Gronk uses Lombardi Trophy for batting practice and dents it

No outrage. I'm just not sure what effect this has on your life. There are things in the world such as family, bills, debt, job security, war, disease, etc. to worry about. Some 30 year old denting a trophy that you'll probably never see and definitely will never lay a finger on seems to be pretty low on the list of things to care about. Especially when the team that actually earned it on the field doesn't even seem to care in the slightest.
I don't know man it sounds like you are attributing too much care to a pass off opinion of "Meh sounds annoying" or "Kinda irritating". It's like...no I really don't give a **** in the grand scheme of life I am just irritated that someone put a dent in a trophy that isn't solely theirs. Like if I were a teammate I'd be slightly irritated but since it's getting fixed (presumably) I'd get over it pretty easily

Yea that's a strange argument for this discussion... using the logic of "There are things in the world such as family, bills, debt, job security, war, disease, etc. to worry about" then none of us should even be on this board, or watching this team.. there's more important sh*t to be worrying about.

What? Did you just have a stroke?

Awful counter argument here. One is a pastime that brings joy. The other is getting upset about a dent in a trophy that isn't even ours and that we had absolutely nothing to do with earning. Maybe a little thought before posting would help in the future.

The point of this exercise isn't about it being "our" trophy or something "we" earned. I don't think anyone will argue against that. I can only speak for myself: I find this mildly irritating. Why do I find this mildly irritating? Because if I were a teammate and someone dented my trophy, I would be mildly irritated. But knowing that it would eventually be fixed I would only be mildly irritated for a moment before just continuing on about my day worrying about other mildly irritating things, like how I bought chicken breasts thinking it was two big chicken breasts when in reality it was 6 thinly sliced chicken breasts packaged as two stacks of 3.

If you saw a kid dribbling his basketball and someone came by and stabbed the ball and deflated it in front of the kid, would you find it mildly irritating? I would. Even if it's not my ball, kid, or whatever. I would just empathetically feel slightly irritated for that kid. That's all.

Nothing in that quote doesn't make sense.

My pass-off (meaning one-off, write-off, little thought or creative writing effort put into them) opinions being: "Meh it's annoying" "Kinda irritating"
You: Based on these opinions, you care too much
Me: You are attributing (assigning) too much care to these opinions. Meaning, you are thinking that I care more than I do for such meaningless opinions/comments.

Why? It's a waste of time being irritated over it. That I need to tell you this, over multiple posts, is borderline disgraceful. For one, you're not a teammate. You're a schlub just like I am that stuffed his face on the couch while they won it. For another, even if you're going for the empathy angle, the dent will be fixed.

That's destroying the ball. Nothing was destroyed here.

Getting irritated over this in the slightest is caring too much. It has nothing to do with you, it's not your property, you did absolutely nothing to earn it, and it has zero effect one way or another on your life.

What time is wasted being irritated? You cannot attribute time to feeling irritated lmfao. It's not like I'm thinking "Hey, I got stuff to do today but instead I'll sit here and be irritated." I can just do the stuff AND be irritated. Again, slightly. Like the same amount of irritation as dropping a screw on the floor twice in a row. It's really not as big of a deal as you're making it to be. Again, I don't need you to tell me I'm not a teammate. I know. It has nothing to do with it. It's called empathy. I feel that 1. It's an eye-sore to have a dent in a trophy and 2. I would be irritated if that happened to me. Therefore, I'm irritated it happened to them. It'll be fixed, I'm no longer "irritated" by it like I was 1 hour ago, and life moves on. I don't know why you're AndyJohnsoning this thread up with such a pointless argument.

Again, using your logic, why does it bring you joy? It isn't yours, and you had absolutely nothing to do with earning it.

Oh, it's because you care.

Always funny when people try to tell others what they should and should not care about.

BREAKING: all future Lombardi trophies will be maimed by designated player selected by team

How many posts in are you about a topic that slightly irritates you that:

A) Has zero effect on your day.

B) Didn't even irritate his own teammates.

It's a waste of your time and energy.

Because it's an enjoyable time waster to take my attention off of the aforementioned problems in life. The key word here is joy. Being joyous is a better use of one's time and energy and has numerous positive observed effects on one's mood and overall health. The other end of this is irritation. A frame of mind that has no positive effects for anyone. There are numerous things to be truly irritated about in life. I named them. Something as ridiculous as a trophy that you didn't earn and that his teammates and organization themselves couldn't even work up the energy to care about is not one of them. You're attempting to make a false equivalence. Not on my watch, pal.

I've stopped being irritated about the trophy and more irritated about you being irritated that I was irritated tbh

Wow, I love this story! So funny! Yeah Rob and Jules monkeying around and they dent the Lombardi trophy with a bunt. It's boys being boys. Let em have some fun! It's just a trophy. And those two did as much to earn it as any two people possibly could!

If so, then they seem to be cheaply made

Naah, it's made out of sterling silver. By nature that metal is soft and super shiny.
Think of jewelry, it's typically made of gold or silver because they look super nice but they are also super soft. That's why people wear 14k jewelery instead of 24k, 24k is so soft you'd dent it by dropping it on a table.

Somebody like Edelman throwing the ball at 80+ mph and it gets bunted by a trophy made entirely out of sterling silver? They're lucky he didn't do a full swing on it or the damage would have been much worse than a dent!

So when they repaint the plane will they include the dent?

Haven't read the whole thread so I don't know if it has been mentioned....

Some Bruin dented the top of the Stanley Cup. It got fixed. It's not a big deal. There are professional, expert silversmiths who can fix these things. I don't believe they are seriously going to leave it dented.

Good for Gronk. It is very disturbing to see how that trophy has become some sort of idol or religious icon the way people kiss it and worship it.
