Two men have made the New England Patriots — cheerleading squad, that is.

Steven Sonntag and Driss Dallahi were among 14 rookies who tried out and made the final cut for this year’s Patriots cheer squad, according to an announcement posted on the team’s website.

The Patriots haven’t had male cheerleaders in decades, Patriots cheerleader director Tracy Sormanti said.

I don't know about male cheerleaders, but male ballerinas might be the most rock-solid, muscular guys I've ever been around. I had a girlfriend who was a ballerina, and hanging around those guys definitely made me look at myself in the mirror with some self-doubt!

On this we can agree. In a smaller setting I could probably get it. But I never went to an NFL game and thought "you know what this needs? A bunch of women doing a dance in full body spandex wearing winter jackets."
