Kraft Orchids Case - Prosecuters Want a Tug Rule?

It wouldn't be this quick if he wasn't. They aren't dropping the charges against Kraft because then they'd have to drop them against everyone else.
Actually, they apparently have that thing where you say "they have enough evidence that I would have been found guilty," you accept punishment as if you've pled guilty and they "drop the charges" (seems to be a quirk of FL law). So they are probably doing that.

To me this isn't about Kraft at all but how the cops installed video cameras in a private business and watched from their headquarters as men and women disrobed and got massages and in some instances sexual acts.

I find this whole operation distasteful and I hope it is illegal or we're all f*ked. I could give a damn what happens to Kraft personally. I'm neither embarrassed as a fan nor do I believe this affects the team.

I do not believe from everything I know there was any sex slavery going on but, simple prostitution with sex workers. I just hope our Constitution protects us from what I consider to be unreasonable searches and a wanton invasion of privacy. I'm sure there are many that disagree and I respect their point of view.

So this makes sense to me, regardless of whether or not I agree. (I live in a state with legal prostitution and regularly visit brothels so you can probably guess where I stand on this)

It's more the people who seem physically pained by the fact that this won't go away. Bummed that Kraft is fighting it, etc. I don't really care if Kraft fights it or not unless he helps set a precedent where judeo-christian views on prostitution and sexual morality are decoupled from our laws but that's a whole-nother ball of wax and he's not fighting a brave fight on behalf of pushing for legalization which will undeniably help sex workers he's just a rich guy fighting for himself.

You pretty much just explained my entire problem with this debacle. I’ve always disliked things that don’t seem fair. The whole concept of fairness went out the window

My prediction on the guilty plea:

Pleads guilty to one misdemeanor charge of solicitation (the other charge dropped); hefty fine and/or donation to women's group combating sex trafficking or prostitution, maybe in lieu of community service (but maybe not, although query if a prosecutor would make a 77 year old do community service, especially one with lots of money), no STD tests; maybe a class on combating sex trafficking; videotape destroyed or permanently sealed, or both. No jail time or probation.

He was offered a deal to walk away with zero criminal charges if he admitted guilt off the record. So I see a slither of a chance of this happening. The only way it happens is if the judge makes a ruling about the video and/or identification check that favors the prosecution.

Yes, I changed my answer a little based on what I think is a quirk of FL law (i.e. you admit they had enough evidence to convict if you went to trial, you accept punishment as if you were found or pled guilty, but then they "drop the charges."). Up here, if they drop the charges there is no punishment, but that doesn't seem to be the case in FL.

Oh, didn’t realize that. That’s pretty idiotic...you can keep your legal record clean but will still need to pay the penalty as though you were found guilty? What a warped compromise.

Agreed, but that's what they offered, en masse, and it's probably what Kraft is doing, as you pointed out, as it avoids having a conviction on his record.

Yeah, what a bummer to be independently wealthy with under 20 years to live and suddenly have a misdemeanor conviction on your record. That might earn him a 10-minute stopover in purgatory.

LOL, Jewish people don't believe in heaven (or purgatory). Word is he's mortified, so keeping it off his record allows him to save a little bit of face, plus it might help him with Herr Goodell.

Ok leaving aside sex trafficking - which is something about which we should all care - if you are someone who thinks this was just a dirty old man getting a handy (I can relate) then why do you care about this?

I'm honestly mystified why this thread is 230+ pages long. I just sort of assumed every billionaire was doing weird **** and guys like Irsay and Kraft were just too stupid or impulsive to hide it well.

Kraft is the idiot owner of our team. That's it. I don't think anything he does reflects on this team, at all. The team is the players and coaches who make it happen not the blobby almost-octagenarian coos hound who signs the checks.
I am with you but Kraft goes out of his way to be the very visible “influential” man at the top where all the good stuff begins. Everyone knows Irsay is an idiot but they expect a higher standard from Kraft. As far as I know he is the only owner to get the “Mister” title.

Doesn't matter if he believes in it or not. It just means he's in for a surprise delay before reuniting with Myra.

After what he's done, I am not so sure I'd be rushing to that reunion if I was him...

Oh for God's sake, it says "until death do you part"

She might also have some questions about that blonde girl friend who is 40 years younger than Kraft.

As a young Jewish kid I worked in an amusement park that had a whole shift of Campus Crusaders for Christ. One guy gave me a terrifying comic book in which God shows a sinner a movie of his life. Then once the sinner realizes how screwed he is, does God say "well, you did masturbate a lot but I forgive you"? NO! Big old flaming HELL! And in the background of the heaven panel I'm sure I saw Hitler and possibly Bucky F'in Dent.

I went with an ex to court for a speeding ticket.

The officer came over and said "I will say you were caught @ 67 mph instead of 74." (numbers are probably wrong but it lowered it into a lower penalty bracket)

My ex agreed and they brought it up to the judge and talked to the judge and that was that.

Not to be silly but what happened? The cop said "Hello citizen who broke the law, since you are here to argue about this I will lie and say you were caught at a lower speed. If you agree to this lie let's go tell the judge the lie." Then the judge goes "OH ok so you have agreed to lie? Good, I would rather you lie than we discuss this. So I will sign off on the lie also."

It was all so bizarre to me. Courts are no place for truth, I guess.
