Yep KSU...had a brain fart because of the tweet and because I was also researching the WVU LT Yodny Cajuste at the same time...Cajuste might have better Swing Tackle potential anyway, though I wouldn't take him until one of our 3rd-rounders...I wish he had done more than the bench during the combine, and now I learn he didn't do jack squat at his pro day either. Damn.

Talked about Bobby Evans in here, I think he's the perfect candidate for a developmental swing tackle. Stuff he has can't be taught. Honestly not many more OL'm I wanna see w Scar. Dude is nasty but needs Dante pass blocking 101. Think Mason but at T.

He was a consistent safety valve for that team. Maybe not as talented as Edelman, but gave off some of the same vibes. Reliable guy.

Was listening to Lance Zierlein on the Move The Sticks podcast and he mentioned Taylor Rapp as a Patrick Chung replacement which I agree with. He and Brooks compared Rapp to a Weddle/Harrison Smith cross.

I always thought abrams from miss state was a better comparison.

Abram is my favorite in terms of on field demeanor. He's mean and you'll know it. He flung Irv Smith to the ground several times in their matchup. Ditto Hockenson, actually! Abram is the ideal box safety who blows up the run and actually does a surprisingly solid job in coverage. I love watching him play. Incidentally, I haven't been this excited about a safety since Chung (yes, I liked Reid last year, and Obi has intriguing potential, but Abram . . . Whoooeee!).

Rapp seems more versatile, however. He can play all over -- box, deep, slot -- and he's got a cerebral approach with lightning fast processing and minimal mistakes. He's not the big hitter Abram can be, but he almost always makes the right read and gets to the right place in a hurry. Perfect Patriot. If I had to play GM, I'd take Rapp due to snap to snap consistency.

I still like Abram better, though.

Akron notes.

Jamal Davis DE jumped off screen a few times but hes so undersized & will have to switch to off the ball at the next level. Can't re-set. Looks like a chase/pursuit guy. Good quicks. Have to have a body on him or he'll kill any angles a RB is looking to take. Decent job at knifing but again hes a LB in the NFL. High effort guy. Showed some toughness. Snap jumper. Recognition wasn't the best but whos knows wht hes asked to do (some coaches don't care & will task their players w only getting up field or playing contain). Lined up in a few spots including blitzing from LB. Has to stop that spin move.

I just wanted to say big props for this. You're the only one I've found who was talking about Davis last year. I'm incredibly impressed with the tape I watched this season. We worked him out, and I have a hunch he's going to be Van Noy's replacement when KVN takes a mega deal in free agency in a couple years. Super fun player to watch. His burst off the snap is the best I've seen in this entire class, but I agree he needs to move to LB for the pros.

Collier might have to be a consideration at 32, depending on who else is available and at what positions. He, Jaylon Ferguson & Zach Allen are my next group of DEs after the top 6 are gone during the first round, though I consider them closer to late 2nd-round values.

Not a big fan of Rapp or especially Abram at 32, but both will be gone by 56. Maybe the well-dressed Amani Hooker with one of the 3rds? I'd pick him just for the Bobby Kraft jokes.

There's a decent shot Rapp will be there at 56, I think. Sure, it only takes one team to pull the trigger, but the other safeties tested pretty well and have more splash plays. Rapp not running the 40 will probably reinforce the notion that he's not fast enough, even though I think he's able to do everything he'd be asked to do at the next level. He's a sure tackler who makes great reads and often flows to the action before other defenders are even moving.

The difference in a 4.4 and a 4.5 is about one step. My guess is Rapp is a high 4.5 kind of runner, but he plays as fast as a 4.4 guy because he takes a step or two before the next guy is reacting. Will that diminish over a decade? Possibly, but I'd be willing to take that risk.
