What if that's the deal, on a cosmic scale? We must sacrifice a 2nd round DB in order to maintain success!

To be fair, you didn't hate any of them as much as you hated Joe Thuney, James White or Matthew Slater. :) It's all a crap shoot, and we draftniks are incurable masochists.

God.. I remember how badly he railed on Slater.. Wanting some schlub who was out of the league in two years..

I've determined that when Stoney truly despises a pick, it's gonna be a home run.. see Duron Harmon, White, Thuney, Slater, etc..

The value in a reviewer or analyst's voice is consistency, not whether the person agrees with you. Captain Stone has strong views, but he tends to bring the same perspective in terms of the types of prospects he likes and doesn't like. That doesn't mean I agree with him all that much, but I always know what I'm getting and what the context is when he's talking about players. That counts for something. :)

@BaconGrundleCandy - What's your take on Hakeem Butler? I saw a video that he's been working out with Calvin Johnson..

The video showed him and Johnson back to back with their arms out. Butler had at least an inch in wingspan on Johnson in either direction.

The big thing Johnson was working with him on is protecting his chest to beat the jam and press coverage..

Watched some tape of Kansas LB Joe Dineen recently, and I love him. Seems like a Patriot, smart, instinctive, leader, sure tackler. The knock on him seems to be that he's lacking in coverage, but we don't seem to value sideline to sideline LBers as much as the rest of the world. And in any case, from what I can see he's no slouch, he just isn't super athletic.

Love him, joins Darnell Savage Jr on my "Binkies that will break my heart to see suit up elsewhere" list. Notable previous recipients of a place on that list are Robert Woods, Darius Leonard and Jordan Howard. And a bunch of other dudes that I was wrong about.

How many Bentleys, Sams, and Roberts types does the team need?

NFLDraftScout has Dineen as a UDFA for what it's worth.

Also, Dineen didn't help himself by tweaking his hamstring during his 40.. (4.61-40)

Joe Dineen's KU pro day cut short due to injury

So after multiple months of looking at prospects and deciding if they fit the patriot way and if they have any red flags and are they worth the risk my conclusions are..

I am still none the wiser, which honestly doesn't surprise me.. but..

My guys that i am in love with -
    • Jeffery Simmons - DT - Top 5 Talent - Red Flag
    • Ed Oliver - DT- Geno Atkins/Donald
    • Greedy Williams - CB - Steph Gilmore 2.0 Potential
    • Lawerence/Ferrell/Wilkins - D-Line- All three have different skill sets. Any of these three i'd love here.
    • Zach Allen -DE/DT - He just seems destined to be a Patriot, everything about him.
    • Noah Fant - TE- Had him as my #1 TE until Hockenson Declared
    • Jace Sternberger - TE- Had him as a 4th rounder until i watched more tape of him, has better upside than Irv Smith.
    • TJ Hockenson - Most complete TE in the Draft.
    • Andy Isabella - WR - Speed. Speed. Speed.
    • Riley Ridley - PTP - WR - Routes are crisp and will be a better player in the pros than college
    • Hunter Renfrow - WR - Just another guy i can see us wanting and fitting in this team.

This list is just guys that i have fallen in love with. Obviously some of them are a pipe dream, but i've tried to make this list on people we may have a chance of drafting.

Big fan. Hes raw off the line. In route when it comes to contact & catch point but there's a ton to like/love.

He also was one of the better slot guys which Im not sure a lot of people know. Top 5 I believe in some metrics.

Vg blocker. Has that nasty attitude where he wants to toss DB's aside.

He's boom or bust like DK. Like the class. They need serious work but depending on where you can get them there's great value.

I could be swayed bottom 1st

This is a very nice list.

I would love to get at least a half dozen of these players, starting with simmons.

:) It would be absolutely terrible to draft someone who will have an 8 year career in the league.

Yep, the next seven safeties drafted after much-maligned Tavon are all out of football, while he just signed a two-year extension. Go figure.

Who the hell has ever mentioned drafting another Safety at #48? There were, you know, other positions from which Bill could've chosen.

Tavon the Error Repeater Wilson was a bad pick then, and it's still a bad pick today.

Stop defending the indefensible. You sound like ignorant suck-ups when you do.

Aw, come on Cap, it's funny! Of course we all know that was a bad pick. For heaven's sake, the guy has become the poster child for bad Pats picks. But here we are eight years later, and he's still going strong while the overwhelming majority of players taken after him--at all positions--are out of the league. It cracks me up.
