If they're still on the board at 32, what do you do?

Definitely But I think it's easier to find a viable WR or 3 than an all around TE.

By trade or FA certainly. By draft though? I'm less sure considering our track record. But if we are going to rely on the draft for both positions, I think they have to double dip at both WR and TE just to give them the best chance.

I agree, but I expect us to add both a TE and WR before the draft, and also a DL.

I do too. Brate and Nelson make sense and I'd like to see how Ziggy Ansah does here although it would more likely be an interior DL than a DE.

I agree. I also would rather see a DT than a DE, although both are needed. A DT likely won't cost more than $5M AAV, a value for the possible effect on the team's defense. We lost 2 players who had over 30% of the defensive reps; we have replaced one.

As an aside, I'm with drafting a DL, but my preference is always to secure players before the draft, if we can.

Also, I think that you have more faith in Wise than I do.

Allen Bailey was my first ever draft binky, before I knew what a binky even was. We seem to be interested in him. Would be an interesting addition.

Bailey's never played in a 4-3 front during his entire career, so I wouldn't pay much for such an unknown. I would however keep in contact with Ziggy Ansah's people; if signed, then a DT such as Dexter Lawrence or Jeff Simmons becomes a stronger possibility at 32, if Bill doesn't use it as part of a trade-up for Hockenson...which would cost how much, exactly?

Now more then before Fant...

I wouldn't pay much for Bailey either. As for Hockenson's price, I think it's going to be too much and I doubt Fant falls with range either. I'd give up a 3rd to trade up for either one if they fall within range, perhaps 64 for Hock, but that's about it.

If your analysis is correct (as almost always), then we may be trading for 2 TE's.

If they LOVE 2 TEs in the draft why not. But I think it's more likely they trade for 1 WR and 1 TE. Cameron brate comes to mind. expendable in TB and good redzone weapon

:) I am taking about trading before the draft for TE's. Manx indicates that the draft TE's are worth trading up, but not enough to likely acquire the players.

If you want to trade up for Hock, that cost is a 1st, 2nd and a 3rd.

Fant will likely cost a 1st and a 2nd, or perhaps a 2nd and two 3'rds.

Basically, we could trade out first six picks to acquire both top TE's. That won't happen. the issue is whether either of the top TE's is value highly enough to want to use the additional choices necessary to move up to get them.

Ok, I misunderstood this. I would not trade up for any TE

I think a trade for Brate makes sense but if we did that, I don't know if we'd trade up for Hock or Fant. We could just take a Dawson Knox, Drew Sample or Kahale Warring or Trevon Wesco.

Seems like a good fit for them IMO. BB will have excellent intel from Saban. If ever there was a lock...

What the hell am I saying? There's no such thing as a lock for the Pats draft.

I agree. Unless we love 2 TEs we probably trade for 1 WR and 1 TE. Unless we know for sure that Gordon comes back, then we should focus more on TE

I'm sure I'll get ridiculed but Lacosse has a chance to be pretty decent.Caught 25 passes from a qb like Keenum last year I'd have to believe he'll do a lot more catching passes from the GOAT
I'm not saying he'll be Gronk part 2 but he could be pretty decent. So stay put in the draft take Irv Smith with #32 there's your 2 TE's

Really don’t want to see it with 32 unless we traded back in after already getting a DT. Just think there is more value in other positions. Especially if its not one of the two Iowa TE’s. Like Irv Smith, just don’t think he is a first round talent.
