Chiefs, Mahomes and Tyreek Hill OT

Well that’s their fans. Of course they think that he is the future. They’ve been stuck with some pretty bad QB’s since Len Dawson and now they have the NFL MVP who just threw 50 TD’s and really didn’t play a “bad” game all season.

Well, yeah, but that's where it came from. And I don't see "hate" for Mahomes, just a lot of perfectly reasonable arguments that, hey, 1-year isn't HOF. Let's see where he goes - and where he goes in times of adversity.

That's what I love about Wilson, by the way. He makes it happen even when his OL fails him, and without top-end receiving talent.

Mahomes needs to grow?
Didn't score enough points?
Complete enough passes?
Win MVP by enough points?

If Mahomes is not playing with the pieces he has, what pieces is he playing with?

Mahomes is great, but who cares about stats and MVP's...only the people that don't win the SB, that's who.
Brady finished the year more content than any other QB last year and Pats fans are content with last year's season too.

This year is a new season and I hope everyone crowns Mahomes as the best QB and tells us all how the tourch is passed (thank you mediots and haters), etc... Because Brady will not be content any longer when he hears that he is too old and his time has passed. Good luck with that approach NFL

?!?! Yes almost. Marino got 48 TDs.

Infact almost anyone who knows football well would rank Marino's 1984 season much higher than Mahomes' 2018 season.

Five Reasons Dan Marino's 1984 Season Was the Greatest Ever by a Quarterback

My point is that decent rookies can have an extraordinary season due to support cast. It doesn't predict long-term success. Marino never got to the SuperBowl again, let alone win it, and that was in Free Agency. Now it's much harder. Not only does support cast rotate, but when the QB goes on their market value contract, the team suddenly has less resources available to put at their disposal.

Within 5 years in 1989 when Montana was having his best season with a 112.4 passer rating, Marino was outside the top 10 in Passer Ratings at a measely 76.9, with 24 TDs and 22 Ints, chucking balls downfield hoping someone catches it from either team.

1989 Y/A and Passer Rating
Rk Player Y/A Rate
1 Joe Montana*+ 9.1 112.4
2 Boomer Esiason* 7.7 92.1
3 Jim Everett 8.3 90.6
4 Warren Moon* 7.8 88.9
5 Mark Rypien* 7.9 88.1
6 Jim Kelly 8 86.2
7 Bobby Hebert 7.6 82.7
8 Don Majkowski* 7.2 82.3
9 Bernie Kosar 6.9 80.3
10 Phil Simms 7.6 77.6
11 Dan Marino 7.3 76.9

Jesus. Marino was only a first ballot hall of famer. What a disappointment! Definitely fell through the floor after that first (actually second) season.

Time will tell but your comparison to Cam and Ryan are fairly inaccurate who did it in their 5th and respectively 9th season.

Plus, his great example, Marino, was a first ballot hall of famer.

"most content" is a far cry from "best".

But Brady is best to me.

I agree but you still can give your opinion about it. I'm not a Brady fan so I don't really care if Mahomes becomes the greatest ever, wins 10 MVPs etc.

As long as the Patriots win, I don't care what other teams, players do, also don't care about individual accolades of our players. If we win every game 3-0 fine by me.

If a Mahomes praise ignites Brady and therefore makes us tougher to beat, I'm all for it though.

I dunno, I haven't given up on Wilson yet. That dude is good when the pocket doesn't collapse in .01 seconds. They, at one point of the season last year, sustained 5.2 pts per drive when not sacked. For reference, I think Chiefs were... 2.5 pts per drive or something

I think he's been decimated by a terrible offensive line.
Who has given up on Wilson?

Wilson's 2017 season was MVP-worthy (if not for Brady). He has carried a Seahawks team that has bottom 5 offensive talent for several years and finished no worse than 9-7.

If I want one active QB not named Brady to lead my team, it's Wilson.
