I'm acutally super interested to see what happens if Tyreek Hill is suspended for the year. I think that could actually be a good thing for Mahomes growth as a QB. It's easy to do it when you have Sammy Watkins, T. Hill, Hunt for most of the year, and Travis Kelce.

I'd like to see Mahomes develop the capability to shift his game and play with the pieces he has, vs. having to build an offense just around his deep ball strengths. Anyway, not really related to the Pats, but I'm excited to see the potential next generation of great QB's start to pop up.

Why would he be suspended? What has changed since the last report that he wasn't named in the complaint about the broken arm?

 I'd like to see Mahomes regress and fall flat on his face.

Word is Showtime is getting girls numbers while at parties with his own GF. Why does everyone assume this guy will turn out to be someone we all like? Didn’t we learn this lesson with the oversized forehead fraud? Imageee with @TBR . Why are we supposed to be fan boys for Sideshow Bob?

Oh man, are you really living in some wonderland where you think our own roster isn't stacked with unrepentant coos hounds who wouldn't try to bang someone in the back room at their mother-in-law's funeral?

We already know what’ll happen; the tourch has already been passed my friend. Time to close up shop and go home, it’s over.

On Pro Football Talk Florio mentioned that but he also said that the police were investigating him. I think that's appropriate considering his history.

Plenty of QBs were good their first year like Wentz and Watson. Their fans were dreaming multiple super bowls only to see their QB fall flat on their faces in year 2.

I feel different about Mahomes. The kid is legit, what he did in his first season as a starter was nothing short of remarkable.

He was a mixed bag against the Patriots this season. In the first half of those games he missed some passes. But look at the second half and crunch time of the AFCCG. The Pats defense was playing unbelievable, like I hadn't seen in years. The Chiefs should have been blown out but Mahomes made some phenomenal plays to keep them in it.

Extremely impressed by him and I expect he'll be a high quality starter in this league for some time if not more.

Watson had a better passer rating and completion percentage than Brady last season, nearly as many passing yards and touchdowns, threw fewer interceptions, and had 550 rushing yards and 5 rushing TDs (more total TDs than Brady, in other words).

Wentz (who would have been MVP in his second season, not his first) was still recovering from a major injury for a significant part of the year and had just begin to hit his stride when he got hurt again. The only people who think Wentz was disappointing last year are insane Eagles fans.

If the Patriots end up with a quarterback as good as either of these players, we should be ecstatic.

I'm not disagreeing with your assessment of Mahomes last year, but I am taking a more wait and see approach.

It’s not like I’m rooting for him to become a great quarterback!

Mahomes/Goff were 2018's Stafford (2011), RG3 (2012), Luck (2014), Newton (2015), Dalton (2015), Wilson (2015), Cousins (2015), Ryan (2016), Prescott (2016), Wentz (2017), etc.

Lots of decent rookie QBs on cheap deals have one awesome year in them as they have good supporting cast (from the available money).

Let's reproduce when the cast shifts, the OL rotates, the WR/TE corps rotates, the RB corps moves around, and most of all, when you load the team with your $25m salary. Let's see if you can still perform with a diminished supporting cast (it's just math).

Point taken.

But, But, But, Bob Kraft always brags about how he includes mandatory community service in all his players contracts...

I dunno, I haven't given up on Wilson yet. That dude is good when the pocket doesn't collapse in .01 seconds. They, at one point of the season last year, sustained 5.2 pts per drive when not sacked. For reference, I think Chiefs were... 2.5 pts per drive or something

I think he's been decimated by a terrible offensive line.

Several of the quarterbacks you cite above had better years in 2018 than Brady. These guys weren't one year wonders, and most of them weren't rookies. In 2016, Ryan was on a deal that was the fourth largest contract in history when it was signed!

And none of those players threw 50 TDs in a season, either.
