Anyone trying to compare what we could have offered to Cleveland's deal should keep in mind that the difference between pick 32 and pick 17 is probably another first round pick. For reference, the Saints gave the Packers an extra first rounder to move from 27 to 14 a year or two back.
So we'd have to give up two firsts, a third, and a player for OBJ to match the Browns. Peppers is decent too; Harmon seems like a decent comp, albeit different salaries.
It's irrelevant, there's no way BB is going to devote $17M per year on a WR. He wouldn't give that to Jerry Rice in his prime. When is the last time a WR carried a team to a Superbowl?
And before we all hand the next Superbowl to the Browns, remember they still have Freddy Kitchen as HC & the most dysfunctional owner in the NFL (see link for more color). I'd be surprised if the Browns beat out the Steelers for the North.
