I did end up quitting my job to better keep up with this thread. I was a key executive and my former company may end up failing as a result but I had to follow my heart.

I still cannot follow it TBH. Something about Eason's jersey and a lawyer's *?
Awesome career move

I just caught the tail end of this thread- apparently the discussion has turn to Kiam's Patriot missile joke. In the Michael Bennett thread, they're now discussing Birtherism. Don't even want to know how they got there.

I don't really care that this border war over the 80's and 90's Pats has waged on like a couple of ****in' ten year olds in a sandbox...but when it starts in on the fans, I for one have had enough. You WISH you attended the tailgates we put on in Lot 17 back then. Back then, fans from other teams would attend and swear they had never seen anything like it. If you were around then , you KNOW what I'm talking about. Krist, sometimes we'd leave at halftime to come back to the lot to finish out the day in style. Today's tailgates are a mere shadow of the MAGNIFICENCE of those seasons and it was all due to a group of the greatest sports fans on the planet IMO.

We had ourselves a time. Often a better one outside the stadium than in, even if we were knee deep in trotter manure because by God, it was our damn trotter manure.

My 1st Patriots game was in '71 against the Raiders I believe....though i'm not 100% sure as I was only 3 (I still have the "gold" coin) they gave out for that inaugural 1st game. I Spent many years wallowing in the muck...and I loved it...not knowing anything different. Had season tickets at the old stadium...sadly I've never been to Gillette. I imagine it's fancy with amenities I never enjoyed.

My 1st game was Dec 5th, 1971 vs Dolphins.
By then regular fans knew to bring seat cushions ... my dad and I did not.
It was actually a good game but I froze my boney skinny ass off ...
I remember it like it was yesterday - freezing will kind of do that.

To fit this in with the thread ... I had no clue what a * was at that time.
My dad was an aircraft mechanic in WWII stationed in the Philippines ...
I am very sure he got more than a few rub and tugs while stationed there.

It sure does have some amenities we never dreamed of back then, for instance there's genuine paved parking lots and fully functional indoor plumbing.

Lot 17 was right on RT 1...there was a row of pine trees with a raised mound of dirt extending a good 50 yards. We'd all show up early and park all along this row. The rest of the parking extended back into the property but this front stretch was THE spot for our group of season ticket holders. Everyone had a responsibility. Since I live down in Charlestown and have access to all kinds of fresh seafood, my responsibility was the lobster or jumbo shrimp, and the shellfish. Others had the keg job, with ice cold taps of domestic and imported. There was a guy who did the steamship round, Another guy did the ribs, racks and racks. There was a row of grills for the hamburgers and hot dogs...and the girls took care of the pastries. We hard tarps to cover everything in bad weather, construction heaters...and at least three TV's if I recall, maybe more. Our nickname was "Patriot City".
What I describe is just ONE of hundreds of Pats fans conclaves off RT 1 in those days. We used to get mocked by all the other fans because of "poor attendance" but I recall our fanbase being 20,000 HARDCORE back then. Yeah, maybe they didn't sell out every game but WE were there rain, snow, wind, sleet or shine.I wouldn't trade those memories or days for 10,000 Cowboy or Steeler titles.

I cannot even imagine walking in those bathrooms on that initial Monday night game.
Not quite Andy Dufresne in Shawshank but not far off.

Speaking of Bob's parking lot....1998 I'm walking down a small back street in Boston...cobblestone like most narrow streets...working late one night and heading home. It was late..around 10-11 pm in the middle of winter with snow on the ground..I'm walking one way and this shorter fellow walking alone is on the other side of the street walking in my direction. About 20 feet away I realize it's Bob Kraft. Yeah I cut him off and thanked him for the lovely parking lot I've spent so many years wallowing in (he actually didn't own the lot since it's creation)...and I also thanked him for keeping the Pats in Foxboro. He asked me if i knew where Orchids of Asia was. The whole interaction lasted about 15 secs.

From inception to 2000 they were not above .500, not above .500 in the playoffs, appeared in 2 sb in 40 years and won 0.
Please show me where is said they were among the worst each and every year.
When 2000 ended, the franchise, o We it’s historu was one of the worst ever.
I thought it was obvious that was what I was saying but reading comprehension is a thing.

Or...were they?

Joker you might remember the bus from our town of season ticket holders, had the Patriots color and logo painted on the bus, we took turns driving and not drinking, everyone had a drive game, great times, great tailgating, I remember your group.

Let's just say that while they apparently had mistaken identity with that other guy, I do not believe for a single second that this is all just a case of mistaken identity with Bob Kraft.

And neither do you.
That is correct, but only after this happened:

...carries a Mass drivers license with Robert Kraft his address and dob on it.

Maybe Robert Kraft is a paid body double for a different Robert Kraft, who is richer than him but very similar physically and also from Massachusetts.

LOL, this is true, but Gillette doesn't really have much more. Most other "newer" stadiums are much nicer. Although it does have functioning indoor plumbing, it doesn't have enough, and there are long lines for few and far between bathrooms every half-time. There is no escalator to the second or third level, only long ramps or stairs. You can take the elevator, but good luck finding it. It's really just a concrete box (with a big hole on one end that lets out all the sound). Now that I am officially old, I wish Kraft had gone for comfort of the fans. Minnesota, Atlanta, Houston and Indianapolis, to name a few, all have gorgeous, comfortable stadia. Even Miami and NY/NJ, who have outdoor stadiums like us, have much better facilities in terms of bathrooms, escalators, etc. Of course, we have the superior product on the field, so I should definitely not complain. One thing that really bothers me, though, is the cupholder situation. I sit two seats away from the end of the row. Some genius decided that you could not have cupholders sticking out into the aisle, so every row in Gillette is one cupholder short. My neighbor (who is a great guy other than this one thing) is never without two beers, one of which is always in my cupholder as his seat is on the end of the row and doesn't have a cupholder (he has seemingly never figured this out, or he thinks I don't care). If I get a drink during the game (something of a rarity because of the bathroom situation - I don't want to be in line & miss some of the game). I usually have to hold onto it until I am done. Maddening!!

Kraft released a statement saying that the whole embarrassing episode was an homage to that old Patriotic standard, Yankee Doodle...

"...Yankee doodle keep it up,
and with the girls be handy."

It's possible. The works of Homer were not written by Homer, but by a different man of the same name.

Care2 Petition

Asks that Gillette remove its name from the Patriots stadium. Because of Kraft's alleged issues.
