2019 Combine

Juan Thornhill, Virginia: His marks across the board were as good as any safety's (4.42 40, 44-inch vertical jump, 11-foot-9 broad jump, 22 bench reps). Jeremiah believes the 6-0 1/4, 205-pound DB also has value as a potential corner.

He played corner in college.

Patriots' versatility

I've said for a while that Julian Love reminds me of Logan Ryan:

They're both about 5'11 195. Both ran in the low 4.5s, but their quickness made them more competitive than straight line speed would suggest (each had a 3-cone ~ 6.7 and a SS between 4 and 4.1). Solid tacklers, disruptive at the catch point, but not the biggest or fastest. Love jumped a little better and I like him more in press, but they were both productive players.

Other prospects might pass him because they're bigger/faster, but Love is a football player.

I was a huge Fan Of Ryan, i thought he was criticised far to harshly by a lot of people. Was also that guy who tended to make timely Interceptions.

Rapp, Long, Love, Hooker & Johnson all had big days. All big PTP guys w the exception of Johnson?

I think Bill will love all. Rapp is so interchangeable but I'm not sure I can remember him getting beat deep. He's so good in run support/around the los. Vg open field tackler.

Glad to see Hooker is getting a lil love.

Hooker was the biggest winner for me. Saw so many reports that he wouldn't test well it was good to see he put in a good 40. Would be happy to take him with one of our Thirds.

So after this years combine who are we thinking that are strong candidates for selections?

I'd love to see these guys as possible receiving targets; Mix of 1st round guys and second rounders.
Harmon, Henry, Fant, Hockenson, Irv Smith, JJ Whiteside, Hakeem Butler, Ridley.

For DL - Sweat, Lawerence, Tillery, Zach Allen, LJ Collier, Dre'mont Jones, Trystan Hill. That's off my list of guys i really liked.

CB/SS/S/DB - Not the best class but still solid guys - Hooker, Abram, CDJ, Taylor Rapp, Deionte Thompson, Thornhill.

@BobDigital I think you were the first guy to recommend David Long as a Patriots corner. Did you see his 3-cone and short shuttle today? Impressive!

So here’s an interesting comparison

Anthony Nelson

Ht - 6’7”
Wt - 271
Arm - 35
40 - 4.82
Vj - 35.5
Bj - 118
3C - 6.95
20 - 4.23
Bench - 18

Chandler Jones

Ht - 6’5”
Wt - 266
Arm - 35.5
40 - 4.87
Vj - 35
Bj - 120
3C - 7.07
20 - 4.38
Bench - 22

Edit: so I decided to give him a watch and chose the Miss St. game. Mostly I was a little bit meh on Nelson until in the 4Q, Miss St had 1st down at the Iowa 1 yd line. On the next three plays from the one, Nelson almost single handily stopped Miss St. from getting in the EZ. That got my attention.

People are going to great lengths defending DK. Media/draftniks are blinded rn w this top 5-10 talk.

@BaconGrundleCandy - in your opinion, is Metcalf the next Calvin Johnson or the next Mike Williams (Detroit Bust) or Tavon Austin?

Just checked it out. Good stuff. 6.45 is a great time. As for any recommendations I' did or didn't make so far I don't feel I deserve any credit as they were superficial. I haven't honestly looked that deeply into this years prospects. I tend to get much more into it once I have the combine #s out.

While I personally value the tape more than the combine it is nice to have numbers on paper before you really get going. If we do draft David Long I of course intend to take full credit though! :)
