Technically it’s not allowed by the language, or it at least appears that way. If the player doesn’t care then it doesn’t matter (see the Matt Cassel situation). But if they do mind, they could file a grievance.Dolphins expected to let Wake and Quinn walk as well.
Flowers may indeed be budding in Miami.
Can we please Franchise and trade him so we don't let the Miami Douchbags snatch him.
Continue with the cuts and restructuring and they will, especially if they backload Flowers’ contract. Amendola is on thin ice, I think he frees up 6 million (need to double check).I don't think they will have the cap space, the Dolphins that is.
I think we should start going to JC Jackson about a extension before his market gets absurd.Continue with the cuts and restructuring and they will, especially if they backload Flowers’ contract. Amendola is on thin ice, I think he frees up 6 million (need to double check).

Anyway, more on point, I’m sure Belichick has all the bases covered. If he doesn’t franchise Flowers it means he can handle him leaving. If the Dolphins get him, oh well. We just have to move on and find the next Flowers, and continue to try to develop our existing guys like Wise.
No urgency, we control him for 3 more seasons.I think we should start going to JC Jackson about a extension before his market gets absurd.
The CBA says you can only tag a player you intend to keep, so tag and trade really isn’t kosher.Dolphins expected to let Wake and Quinn walk as well.

DEs between Seymour and flowers that were better than sheard:We waited many years for Flowers. After Seymour left, we were dismal at that position, and couldn't replace him at all, until Flowers.
Jabal Sheard was the best guy we had between Seymour and Flowers.
This guy will not be easily replaceable.

DEs between Seymour and flowers that were better than sheard:
Ninkivich
Jones
Carter
Long
Nink literally played 43 DE for years.Flowers is not just a DT-DE. Nink was a LB, so he is not comparable to Seymour/Flowers. I'd submit that these are totally different players.
And I disagree on Carter/Long.
The one you're right about, that I missed on, was Chandler Jones. There I agree with you. However, that didn't exactly work out for the Patriots. When you expend that much draft capital on a guy, it can't end like it did.

Andre carter wasn’t better as a patriot than “left home healthy” Jabal sheard? Come on. Long was better as well but only here a year.
I’m not sure how “the way it ended” has anything to do with Jones being better than sheard.
They got great value out of Jones and got something for him before he became too expensive. It ended just fine.
Not if it means paying him a ridiculous contract. Understand, he was more valuable in those 4 years than he ever will be the rest of his career. Not keeping him meant we upgraded innumerable other areas. They traded first round a 1st and 3rd to get him, had him for 4 years, and got a 2nd rounder back. Given the draft capital expended, I should hope they do better than that in the future.
We are talking about sheard. You said the best de we had between Seymour and flowers was sheard. And that is very wrong.Ninkovich is not nearly the same player/position as Flowers. Flowers is a DE/DT hybrid, whereas Nink was on the edge and also covering backs, etc. These are not comparable players at all.
Let me correct your memory. Carter played 14 games, had 10 sacks and played terrific all around de. How you could think sheard was better is beyond me, but it’s evidently because you weren’t paying attention when carter was here. (Or perhaps when sheard was here too)We certainly remember a totally different Andre Carter. I remember the guy who played great for like 5 games, but then was injured mostly.
Dee Ford already has trade rumors now.Franchising and trading someone is a gray area under the CBA. Technically it’s not allowed by the language, or it at least appears that way.
