Kraft Orchids Case - Prosecuters Want a Tug Rule?

In Kraft’s case would we say poor guy or poor rich guy??

Obviously, Kraft is a moron. Nobody defending him. However, if he is guilty of enabling the sex traffic trade then the following must be true too?

Those of us who have ever used illegal drugs are culpable in all of the lives destroyed in the drug trade?

Hopefully that high horse enjoys its load getting lighter.

And the Patriots reputation is being dragged through the mud in the eyes of jealous fans and Bart f'n Scott? Pfft. That ship sailed a long time ago. A misdefukkinmeanor by a horny old imbecile would only embarrass me if my name was Jonathan Kraft.

This Patriots fan has the popcorn out and enjoying the circus.

This is a good point and there are a lot of really complicated aspects of this situation that in my experience PatsFans is gonna have a really hard time handling.

So I’m trying to make sense of a few schools of thoughts I’ve seen pop up.

1. Kraft is being linked directly to the trafficking piece, but nobody will definitively say if he was knowingly involved with it? Media keeps lumping the two leaving it ambiguous, which is of course the goal.

2. Apparently anyone who solicits a prostitute MUST know whether they are involving themselves with a trafficking ring. Is that something that’s being assumed as a given for those who do such things? That sounds like a, “Hey soliticiting prostitutes is fine, just make sure they’re there for the right reasons!”

Wasn’t child’s names as a patron as well as kraft?

Two billionaires?

Doesn’t matter. The reputation damage is done.
This would seem to be the case. The question now is whether his public image to be rehabbed to any credible degree.

What sort of possible deal on a misdemeanor possibly could help him in the court of public opinion?

Again, an answer there would be evidence dependent. And I don't really give a damn about the court of public opinion.

How bad is this? Are we a laughing stock right now?

Theoretically, what will be his defense?
His defense is, nothing was illegal. Paying for a massage is not illegal. What does the video actually show? How was it obtained? Is it admissible? Cops do a lot of stuff that will never hold up in court, because the average Joe will cave because of the legal expenses. That’s why a lot of well-heeled clients get named and shamed and then have charges dropped when the prosecutors discover they are facing a very competent and well funded defense team. But the cops got their headlines, dissuaded other Johns, cut into the customer base, which is all they really want.

Think about it, if all the video shows is him going in the front door how is it incriminating? If it shows him in the privacy of a room it’s covert, very likely inadmissable - not sure of the rules in Florida but it probably requires knowledge and consent of someone shown in it (otherwise it violates expectation of privacy) and if the sex worker knew it causes major complications: entrapment is one obvious one, and then there is the cops going undercover inside the establishment like that shows they more about embarrassing Johns than shutting down sex traffickers (because if they got a sex worker to wear a wire they already had a corroborating witness so didn’t need the video).

The cops are trying the case in the headlines. Not in court.

Don’t forget Jerry Jones scandal...I bet there are plenty of wealthy people that have mistresses and pay them under the table with gifts and such.

My reference to the court of public opinion was looking at it from Kraft's perspective.

They have said definitively that he's not knowingly involved.

How did they say that? By charging him with a pair of Florida misdemeanors that carry a max of 60 days in jail (not that he'll ever see the inside of a cell).

If he were knowingly involved with it you're talking multiple state and federal felonies and he'd be in pre-trial jail right now.

Nothing but complete exoneration is going to change the public perception. Even that won't change the minds of a lot of people.

Because man is a rationalizing, not rational, creature, and most people are idiots.

I couldn't resist and checked out r/NFL. Gotta say that the main post on this has some pretty hilarious jokes.

It is bad ... some are glossing it over as a simple hand job.
but this is modern day slavery ... and the johns contribute to the issue.
A man of Kraft's stature should know better ... it's not simply about a handy.

Nope. BK looks like an idiot and his reputation took a hit but you ask fans from any other team they would take the trade off of our success for some bad press involving our owner.

The only thing Kraft denied was engaging in "illegal activities". He didn't deny being there.
That's the Jerry Rice excuse, except he didn't get caught on camera like our Bob Kraft did.

Charging someone with a crime and the charge not panning out isn't slander.
My point is coming out in the press and stating the charges and that they have video evidence to prove it, and then if you fall short on those statements with someone with ultra deep pockets. That can cause a DA office to be torn apart with political longevity of said DA to be on the line. You just don’t throw bold statements like this up against a wall and see if it sticks. People’s lives can be ruined with false accusations like this

A quick look at CNN, E!SPN, and FoxNews on my phone tells me Not Bad. As I said earlier, this falls more into "Geez, that's embarrassing hey what's this shiny story over here" than full blown wall to wall Deflategate coverage.

As I said in an earlier post, this coming on a Friday afternoon didn't give it time to get legs. Unless he was using his cardboard boxes to get the girls here from China, I doubt this will be much more than a footnote in Kraft's history.

If Schefter's "Kraft isn't the biggest name in this" is true, Kraft will stop being mentioned all together. I have seen some tweets linking this whole thing to our President. Likely? No. Possible? What isn't. I have to assume whoever it is, they are waiting until Monday to 1) do maximum damage to that person or 2) get a weekend of negotiating to keep this person's name off the reports that come out.

If caught on camera it is worse than bad for him and the league.
There was a legal reason the NFL didn't(doesn't) purchase these videos like TMZ.
The NFL cannot simply buy and bury their existence.

If TMZ or someone else gets a hold of this video it becomes a nightmare for the NFL.
Let's hope there is no video of a Robert Kraft sex act is my hope.
A money shot will be crippling .........
