Cooks

Love Cooks as a #2 WR making about 5 -6 M a year. Hate him as a #1 making 14 or whatever he is getting now. Will be interesting to see what Pats do next year as I suspect Dorsett and Hogan will be gone.

Cooks = Welker.

Both very good, but .......

People need to stop with the anti-Welker ********. It's not Welker's fault that Brady got his ankle rolled up and Neal got knocked out of the game in 2007. It wasn't Welker's fault that Brady went down during game one in 2008, or that Welker went down in the final regular season game of 2009. It also wasn't Welker's fault that Brady screwed up a screen pass and Crumpler dropped a ridiculously easy TD pass in 2010. It's not Welker's fault that the Patriots made the SB with a horrible defense in 2011, or that other players also dropped catchable passes in that game. And, in case you didn't notice, Edelman had a drop last night that could have been a very costly one, if Wanda Wetsy hadn't been the opposing QB.

did he looked for Brady after the game? classy guy

I'm a fan of Cooks - like him a lot. Not >15m/year cap hit "a lot," however.

Trading for him then trading him has to be one of BB's best player management moves in the run.

I'm really appreciative of Cooks dropping 2 TD catches and allowing Gilmore to get that easy INT.

Thanks Brandon!!

.

When you say, "dropped", it completely disrespects the efforts by the defensive players on those plays. Those were NOT drops. Those were good defensive plays, which believe it or not can still be made in the NFL.

Those two things are interconnected. You don't pay someone top WR money who essentially can only run 2 routes even if he runs those at an elite level. Overpaying for this is how you end up in a situation with not enough middle class players that fill out the depth of your team.

The guy had 1200 receiving yards on the #2 offense in the league. He added another dimension that opened things up for other players (like Woods and Kupp-when healthy). I think Rams are fine with the production they got for the money (at least this year).

We would have liked those numbers, too, it just came down to price tag and wanting to use the money elsewhere (which was my original point).

The general tone of this thread (which I don't understand) seems to be a 'good thing we got rid of that guy' mentality due to a lack of production.

The 2nd one should’ve been caught even when Harmon hit him. You gotta make that play. Play of the game by mccourty on the first one.

Cooks was the only player on the Rams O who showed up last night. He should of had an easy TD if Goff doesn't take forever to see him wide open and then throws a duck quaking all the way there. Great play by McCourty but a kid in high school could have made a better throw then Goff did.

If we had Cooks on the outside instead of Hogan we win the game by 20 pts. They dropped extra people in coverage and left Hogan as the 1 on 1 in which he got no separation all game. We need a serious upgrade at outside WR next year.

Again. We would have liked those numbers around Edelman's pricetag. But not at what Cooks is making on a long term market deal. He is not versatile enough nor does he create enough space for others on a consistent basis to warrant that.

Cooks' productivity is not worth a 15M contract to us. Edelman had near identical yardage numbers this year if you'd project his season over 16 instead of 12 games. But at a 4M pricetag this year.

Maybe the Rams are happy with it. I don't know but there is a reason why Peyton and Belichick moved on from him and that is how much of a one trick pony he is.
