Aside from their QB screw up, the ratings are also badly flawed because they attribute grossly excessive value to the 'Boys new stadium. (Other than that I think they've done a reasonably good job).

thks; am i wrong or last time WSH was at n.1 and NE at n.2 ?

What do you base that on? I'm guessing they got their figures from either public sources (property tax receipts) or professional appraisers.

Take a look at the Colts new stadium deal.

I'm speechless. What a buncha dumb hayseeds.

That changes in 2008 when the team moves into a new $675 million stadium, largely funded by Marion County taxpayers. Without Manning as the face of the franchise it is unlikely the team would have gotten such a sweet deal. The Colts will get most of the stadium's revenue, including a $122 million, 20-year naming rights fee from Lucas Oil, while the City will cover the stadium's operating costs. The most incredible part of the deal: the City is going to pay the Colts $48 million for leaving the RCA Dome before their lease expired.

Even more amusing: if you go to Shaw's they have the "official Patriots yearbook," which has full-page action shots of everyone that was on the roster last year, plus the marquis free agents (so, for example, they have a picture of Welker from TC).

Guess what HVC Matt Cassel is doing in his photo.

Kraft brought the team for $140 mil, now it's worth 1.5 bill. Kraft is a genius.

Same could be said for just about every owner. They have all made millions. For example Bolan bought the Broncos for $78 million and they are worth $924 million now.

Here's what I don't get. Ralph Wilson started up the Bills for $X0,000 45 years ago, which is the price of a crack house on Buffalo's brutal East Side. By the time he dies, the franchise will be worth a billion dollars. Do you all think the 45 year support of Buffalo Bills fans had anything to do with the HUGE increase from his initial investment? If you answer yes, don't you think he owes it to the fans to sell the team now while there are willing buyers in the Buffalo area instead of having his family auction it off to the highest bidder after he croaks?

I'm not going to bemoan any of these rich guys their fortune, but at some point you have to say, "Hey Ralph, the average working man has helped you become filthy rich. Do you feel any responsibility whatsoever to repay their loyalty?"

As for Indy and all these people with crumbling schools and infrastructure who would rather make the Irsay family billionaires into perpetuity rather than give their kids a fighting shot at life... what more is there to say?

In Minnesota, you have bridges falling down, while the politicos are drinking champagne at the groundbreaking of the new stadium.

Seriously, I wonder why these people don't get it. If you all were worth a $1 billion dollars, wouldn't you do the right thing? Make sure the franchise stayed local? Financed your own stadium? Am I crazy?

that is ridiculous. to have the taxpayers pay for all of that??!?!?!?!?!?! football is popular sure, but there are FAR more important things that money could be used for

We're talking about projected revenues from an uncompleted stadium. There are no official sources.

Ignoring Forbes' history with such projections: The stadium will cost over $1B, and they are projecting that it will add around $500M to the value of the franchise. It won't even be ready for football until the 2009 season. Even with a very generous discount rate, thats an EBITDA of AT LEAST $100M/year. That's only possible if it becomes a major entertainment center (which A. is unlikely and B. if true would imply that they short changed the Patriots by several hundred million on account of Patriot's Place).

There's a reason why people call it India-No-Place.

No, you make eminent sense. That's why most people will think you're crazy!!!

I saw an article the other day in forbes mag for the top 10 big guys in whatever category and kraft made the sporting list.

How in the heck is the Texans worth so much?

They're not even remotely close to being a top team... Bob McNair must be using Aurthur Anderson for cooking his books the same way that Enron did...

He's kept the team in Buffalo all this time, despite the increase in monies he could have gotten by moving the team elsewhere.

As for the rest, stop voting in politicians who willingly spend public money on anything other than the most bare of essentials. If you're not willing to do that, then you're just another special interest group crying because your favorites didn't get enough attention.

For whatever reason a few teams have red numbers for operating income so I would think that this amount would have to be taken into account.

For Cowboys new stadium has a television that runs between the 20s. Yes, its 60 yards long and is double sided hung from high above the field. I have heard it is by the far the biggest screen in the world. Anybody that owns that should be the #1 ranked franchise.

See Snyder, Daniel.

The Redskins are another example of a team using its fanbase "as an ATM".

I'm glad Kraft is making money because he DESERVES IT, unlike those that are doing it undeservedly.

I live down here, but I root against the Redskins and the Orioles BECAUSE of their ownerships.
