If any team from yesterday's games wants to complain about the officiating is the Saints. Even so no losing team should ever blame the refs. Saints were up 13-0, Chiefs were up with less than 2 min to go in regulation. Win the damn game

I fully expected them to relax the enforcement on that one for the playoffs. in the playoffs you don't want ticky tack calls determining the outcome, so the unfortunate consequence of this is that a horrible non call determined the outcome instead.

This is what happens when you "close loopholes" by turning plays into judgment calls by the refs. The refs then make judgment calls that are not universally correct.

Simplify the rules and stop trying to jig the rules so the Patriots can't do what they do, stop trying to socially engineer the league to make it harder for a dynasty to win and go back to safeguarding its actual integrity instead. It's just that simple, and it's not going to happen anytime soon.

It’s bad for the whole league; officiating seems to be at its lowest point of quality.

That said, not completely discounting the Saints, but for all their whining, they won the regular season Steelers game with the benefit of some bad calls on Joe Haden. Say they lose that game; now the game is being played in LA instead of NO. An argument could be made they had homefield advantage because of the refs. But it’s whatever. Win your games. Belichick would have nipped that crying in the bud

No call when Dorsett was wrapped in the EZ (and he still made that fantastic catch), and yet our defender seemed to have a light touch on Kelce in th EZ and flag was thrown?

Though KC fans will be correctly angry @ the phantom roughing the passer that went against them, you just had to watch that exact play when JE was targeted and wrapped around by the KC D and yet the refs' didn't throw a flag @ that. So, no pity for the KC fans.

yes.......it was obvious in the first game when a blatant helmet to helmet knocked josh hill from the game.....not sure how you can justify compromising player safety by calling it ticky tack......you can't use your head.....especially not on an opposing players head.....it's really simple.....either it happens or not

I think the Saints got hosed, but they should also STFU. They got away with a pretty blatant face mask on Goff on the 3 yard line so LA had to settle for 3 instead of having 1st and goal from the 2.

There were good officiating instances for both teams, and terrible officiating instances against both teams. Replay gaveth and tooketh away.

I'm inclined to consider the officiating a wash. I'm just not going to sit by and listen when Chiefs fans start talking about "But that one play!", because there were "one play" moments all over the place in that game.

I agree, but what do you think of the ref's not throwing a PI call on THAT SAME play when JE was literally wrapped and never got a chance? I thought the phantom call was offset by that non PI call.

But what the heck: there were umpteen # of calls that should have been called against KC (think of Dorsett's TD, Gronk getting mauled when he acts as a WR) but yet 'refs let them play' whereas rule were different for the Pats D.

So, no way IMO all the calls evened out.

We won a superb game thanks to Brady.

Dorsett's touchdown was PI. Watkins big gain to set up a TD was a blatant pick. The play you mention, yup, DPI (and there were many uncalled on the Chiefs worse than the one's called on Jackson, including the phantom one on the fumble that would have ended the Chief's drive).

Re-watching the game, Chiefs have NOTHING to complain about. Very one-sided refereeing brought the game to parity.

Also, Reid is losing it over the neutral zone infraction that cost them the game. Says you don't call it on a play like that...well, it was flagged before the pick, obviously, and yeah, Ford was a yard over the blue line...duh.

Posted this in pre-watch thread. Hopefully they will address it bc its one of the biggest plays in most significant moments and affects outcome in big way. Its one thing holding calls are so arbitrary but this one should never have the scale we saw yesterday..

Thanks for pointing this out. Seems like there's little press about the fact that Reid is whining that the refs enforced a black and white rule instead of giving his team a warning. It's funny as Romo also alluded to the fact that the Chiefs' secondary holds on every snap.

Apparently the Chiefs were supposed to be allowed to flagrantly break the the rules. Then get a warning if the refs were thinking of actually enforcing the rules. Finally they can assess the penalty, but this is likely dependent on the infraction affecting the play and it not being a big moment in the game..

The RTP call was technically justified in the fact that Jones hand visible pushed Brady's facemask without question. Ticky Tac? Yes but the go ahead Watkins TD pick play was outrageous. Kelsey's touch down was an extended arm push off (eh!) . The J.C. Jackson sideline P.I. was a Chiefs gift.
The Chief's can't cry about the Ref on one RTP. The officiating was bad on both sides. The Watkins play went to the 2 yard line. More of a game changer. If the Pats had lost this would have been almost as blatant as a game changer as the Saints game.
Question? Did BB tell the defense to let the Chiefs score? Thoughts. Not much energy on that GL stop attempt. Look at the tape.

It's amazing how much holding Eric Berry gets away with. He looks like a child hanging off his Dad's legs at times. Always trailing Gronk with grabbing the back of his jersey.
