It only matters if:

1. Brady has a losing record in the Super Bowl (he doesn't even if he loses this year's) AND
2. There is another QB who has been to a similar amount of Super Bowls and has a better record.

Neither is true.

This makes sense for comparing LeBron and MJ. MJ has been to a significant amount of Finals, so does LeBron, but LeBron's losing record and his epic choke job against Dallas will be a stain compared to MJ. There is not another QB who can compare to Brady currently (though Mahomes has potential to do so).

It wont but the haters will try to say it will. Like having the year Aaron rodgers had this year is better than bradys year, just because he didn’t lose a sb game. Thats their logic.

A simpler method of assessment is this: who's better, the athlete with 4 gold medals and 0 silvers (Montana) or the one with 5 golds and 3 silvers (TB)? And what does it do to his legacy if he adds another silver to that tally?

And 5 bronze medals.

But you can say that about any game. If the Eagles defense played better, they don't need a strip sack fumble to win it at the end. If Atlanta didn't turtle in the 2nd half, they win.

Why the hell do I care about any of that from the oppositions perspective

I doubt it seeing that the new guy in Green Bay is still the greatest even when losing 25 games a year

It would be different if he was 0-4 etc. People tend to put the loser tag for some dumb reason for qbs that lose the big one.

However, he’s won 5. I can’t even begin to take someone serious if they brought that into his legacy.

"Losing in the playoffs or not even making them means the QB is better than one who has lost in the Super Bowl" -the actual logic every time some Joe Montana fan brings up that Montana never lost a Super Bowl.

It is seriously the dumbest ****.

I called Bill and told em his legacy would be in check if he won this game and lost the SB because Kellerman, Felger Mazz and others would shred him. Told me he might throw the game straight up.

"They wanted me to turn on Brady and I said no, no, no"... sung to the tune of Amy Winehouse's "They wanted me to go to rehab"...

Sportstalk folks and fans quibble, but handsdown he is the best and will only be viewed with more respect as his story ages like fine wine..

Honestly, all this talk about losing is for losers. Seems like the bandwagoneers feel so entitled to playoff victories, they take them for granted.

You get to appreciate every one when you had 4 playoff runs, then a Super Bowl run in 25 years.

Let's stop talking about losing, it is the opposite of what the team is here for.

Not only does Brady have the playoff stats and more Super Bowl wins but how many iconic moments? Elway is best remembered for "the Drive" and his helicopter first down. Montana has "the catch" and the TD to beat the Bengels. Does Manning have any truly iconic moments? Coming back to beat the Pats in 2006 AFCCG,I guess? We all remember his pick 6 to lose to the Saints.

Brady has:
Tuck game
Amazing comebacks against Ravens and Jags
Super Bowl 36 - drive at end of game
Super Bowl 38 - 4th quarter and final drive against Panthers
Super Bowl 49 - 4th quarter against legendary defense (lost some luster due to Butler pick)
Super Bowl 51 - 4th quarter, final drive in regulation, OT TD drive

And was solid to excellent in the Super Bowl 3 losses.

Much better chance he enhances his legacy at this point. Another win would certainly help. A comeback win even more and maybe a huge blowout victory could add the tasty topping to his career (the one thing he has not done)

He could take a short term legacy if he were to lose Super Bowl 53 and absolutely lay an egg with multiple picks or a game changing gaffe like Manning had. Even then, it would be a minor blip and would be forgotten as time went on.

There is an aurora to being undefeated in the final round. Especially the spectacle that is the Superbowl. This unfair notion began long ago that losing the Superbowl is the worst thing you can do in the NFL. Everyone remembers it. People killed Elway for it. So many Jokes about the bills.

sure being when 1-0 or 2-0 is nice, but that is not large enough sample. Once you hit 3 and above, there is an aurora about that. I would be rather be 4-0 than 4-2. but I will take 5-4 over 4-0 all day.

Any debate ended for good on February 5th 2017.
So if you win 4 sbs then get back to 2 more you are worse than if you lost in earlier rounds. But then if you get back to 3 more but win 1 you become better?

Just saying, I’ve heard many a Boston fan hold all of Lebron’s losses in the Finals against him.
If Lebron had more championships than Jordan the second place finishes would be moot.
The championship losses, and more precisely the lack of championships that result are only held against him in the GOAT argument can Jordan and Russell.

Jordan was a great player and his 6 championships is impressive but he only won championships when he was on the best team. He never led the underdog Bulls to wins. Could not get past the Celtics until they got old and it took several losses to the Pistons before he finally broke through. He also never had a super team in the West to contend with (like the 80's C's did with the Lakers)

The Lebron losses in the finals narrative is beyond stupid. He twice carried garbage teams to the finals and led the historic upset against the Warriors. He rightfully takes a hit for his team losing to Dallas but that is about the only blemish on his career (and a small one at that)

couldn't give a rats ass about Brady's legacy...To me it's all about the thrill of watching my favorite team play in the most important games. I never did understand why so many fans get caught up in a player's legacy, someone they don't know personally.

His FEB 2018 loss was one of the most epic offensive outbursts in NFL history. So, does that loss « ruin him » ?
