Mcdaniels to Packers speculation and rumors

I hope the McDaniels job hunting is over. I thought that last season and here we go again. Now he is staying again.

What leverage is he hoping for with BB or Kraft?
I really don't think it's about leverage. By all accounts he is paid incredibly well and well respected by his coach and ownership. Aside from BB stepping down, there really isn't an opportunity here that they won't give him and he knows that.

I wonder if McDaniels had a family related issue that caused him to back out of the Indy job. I hate speculating. I can't imagine it was as simple as him accepting the job, then having a change of heart.Unless Kraft stepped in and gave him a huge pay raise and/or the promise of being the next coach here.

Josh had to have nagging concerns with Indy about some things.

Some reasonable possibilities:

-Luck's health situation was unclear and the medical info was not being shared with him
-Wasn't clear as to how much input on roster construction Ballard would allow him
-Wasn't comfortable with Ballard's expectations on how best to build the coaching staff
-Was not at all happy with a meddling drunk/stoned tweet-happy bonehead owner

All of these seem more likely than family issues.

He undoubtedly had a similar list of concerns about his path forward in NE, and Kraft & BB made that list evaporate.

Those reasons are as good as any that I can think of.

With all that said Josh still said, "yes" and backed-out so at least initially he was comfortable enough with the situation.

So then what happened?

Theory: I'm a firm believer in the rumors in which BB and Tom were having issues outside the norm and JMD was the buffer. Kraft knew this. He also knew BB was 66 and in no way in hell could handle breastfeeding a new OC AND DC.

I think Krafty and JMD and had the proverbial father/son sit down with a beer convo and asked him why he wanted to be a HC and what qualities he was looking for in a team. When JMD rattled them off Bob threw cold water on them (Irsay is an idiot. Ballard is calling the shots. Luck has a noodle arm. The risk of failure and or JMD not realizing his aspirations are high, etc). So, to make JMD whole, Bob paid him like a HC and had BB get JMD more involved in the FO stuff.

According to MKC, the Cleveland job, the only other job worth McDaniels efforts, looks likely to go to an in-house candidate, not named Williams.

Freddie looks like he needs to leave the kitchens from time to time.

It's ridiculous that, at a time when the NFL head coaching carousel is in action, and the Patriots have had multiple people being interviewed for jobs, the coaching news thread was moved out of the main forum. But, since it was, I've posted this there, and will also post it here.

Per sources, Kliff Kingsbury is finalizing a deal to become the Head Coach of the Arizona Cardinals

McDaniels staying was a win win for everyone. Reich seems to be a very good coach. McD stays with BB & Brady.

I genuinely can’t believe the NFL allow this carry on when the season is at the critical point.

Teams shouldn’t be allowed to interview for head coaches until the day after the super bowl.....it’s absolutely absurd!!

That face just screams loser lol

He turned down the OxyContin and it set a bad tone and vibe. Then, when he wouldn’t snort coke either. It kinda went south and was agreed upon to make it all look weird

That would put the teams that need coaches at a disadvantage compared to teams that already have their coaches in place. The NFL is not likely to do that anytime soon.

McDaniels isn't going anywhere. I said this in Sept, I said this a month ago and I'll say it now.

When I said " Your son is the next HC of The New England Patriots after Bill retires" Her face and response said it all.

Elaborate on this if you could

Josh sucks. Was hoping he'd leave.

Give us some detail on what he needs to do differently. If you could elaborate by giving us personnel groupings and situations in games (opposing personnel, down and distance, time, etc.), that would be even better.

You know the reason. It’s because we don’t convert every third down and score 50 a game.

We ran when we should have passed and passed when we should have ran.

The shotgun snaps to white, quick screens that go nowhere, the obvious play action fake throw to gronk over the middle. Short distance quick snaps to the back that always gets stuffed, the most predictable play caller in the league is McDaniels. The man is a hack!!!
