Sign the beast! #42! . . . (Christian Wilkins)

We should sign the entire 1897 Penn defense.

Don't disrespect Yale 1894. They went 16-0 and allowed only 13 points in 16 games, averaging 30.3 ppg.

I like Wilkins but most mocks have him going mid-to-late first round. If he falls to the Pats (hopefully at pick #32), I would scoop him up. Lawrence's stock has dropped since the PED incident and he is now slotted into the second round. If BB wants a true NT who can take on 2 blockers and clog up the middle, then Lawrence might be the answer. For more mobility, Wilkins is the choice (if he lasts to the end of the round).

The Patriots need a 0/1-tech that can swallow up double teams, funnel runs to the outside, and keep the opposing guards from getting to the second level and on top of our LBs. I like Wilkins, but as others have mentioned, he's a 3-tech ideally. Think Brown with possibly more upside. That role is also needed, but not nearly as much as the Patriots need a more traditional NT.

I'd like to pick up a veteran to do that. Is there a guy like Ted Washington or Alan Branch out there? Then, a guy like Wilkins or Simmons with our first. Trade up for the right guy. Like we did with Hightower and Chandler Jones in 2012. Could have traded up slightly and gotten Derwin James this past draft.

I know our DL is weak. But, a safety who can get people on the ground might be even a bigger help to our run defense. Some of the big plays we gave up seemed to take a long time to develop and have to think a safety helps there. Maybe, a younger vet there too.

Michael Pierce is the one I'm most interested in. A bit on the older side and only an RFA, but he's an elite run stuffer.

Defintely the deepest DT class I’ve seen in years.

Strange thing about January to April is, as fans we rate players on actual gameplay and accomplishments early. Later, it’s about what they do in underwear. The mocks will change many, many times from now until then.

We need a run stuffer. Adam Butler is a decent pass rusher as a backup DT.

I’ve seen enough of Shelton and Brown. Time to move on

The 2 playoff gigs w/o Lawrence brought Wilkins back in the top of the draft conversation - where he used to be before the season - and possibly out of Pats price range. He showed he doesn't need big D.L. to feed from. For GMs he might've been there all the time regardless..

Still it was sort of a pity watching him putting up this monster performances at the best time - because I really thought his next stop was going to be Foxboro. He was a great prospect for 3 years, maturing well and falling a bit under the radar mid season offered a possibility he could fall indeed like Wilfork right into BB's lap.

Its not just about his on-field performances but also his on and off the field leadership and character that made him (imo) the safest bet BB would love to have him in Pats locker room and coach him .. not to mention the fit and need.

Id be very happy with any of Wilkins, Lawrence in Pats outfit next year.. but in historical DL class there should be plenty to choose from and I wouldn't be surprised if they double dip..

Wilkins should be off the board well before we pick. Understand he is a 3 technique, maybe a five. He is not a great run stopper, but is great at putting pressure on the qb in passing situations.

DT Davis of Alabama is going back for his senior season, and so is brown of auburn.

The depth of the DT class took a hit with those guys not coming out.
