Report: Ravens want the world to know they’re through with Flacco

Exactly, I thought they were crazy also, so there is someone else out there that will view )Joe as a bargain at $18.5M
No one other than evidently you would consider Flacco a bargain at 18 mill.
He will get some offers as a backup at around 5 mill a year.
He is not a starter in this league any more.

I'm willing to put money on that, say a bill he gets an offer at 3 times your $5M.

If Cousins is better, it's not by much.

He has a 5-25 record against winning teams

'Bargain' may be a touch of hyperbole but $18.25M would make Flacco the lowest paid non rookie contract starter in the league other than Dalton in 2019. $5M is straight up nonsense, it would put him somewhere between Colt McCoy and Chase Daniel lmao

I'd gladly take a piece of that action as well.

He is certainly not a starting caliber QB but there are a lot of teams who aren’t always rational and injuries happen. I could see some team giving him a starting job even though he is absolutely terrible. Maybe a former offensive coordinator or some other guy who thinks he can work with him (he won’t make him better.). Then there’s the idea of him being a “bridge” QB for a rookie to develop while Flacco starts at the beginning.

But Inagree with your overall point that he SHOULD not start anywhere.

He's not healthy. Neck and knee too.

I'm not ziggin and zaggin on this, I admit I haven't seen him the last couple years. If the board says he really sucks now I drop my argument.

A bridge QB was pretty much the role I was picturing him in. OFC no one should be pinning their franchise hopes on him but the QB world needs ditch diggers too.

Not arguing. Just adding to the list of injuries he's had and may still

Oh no, I'm just backing off cause it seems I don't know what I'm talking about on this one.

Well betting money with an anonymous person on the internet is stupid but I would bet a ton of my own if Vegas offered that bet.
$15 million? Joe Flacco? Lolol

But who would choose to give a big contract to an aging, declining QB rather than go find someone with any degree of upside?
We are taking about committing to him as starter if you trade draft picks and absorb an 18 mill salary.

It's all good. You were right. He did have a back injury. Plus neck and knee.

He may just get released. Ravens have already said they’ll release him if there’s no market.

In the past few years we’ve seen guys like McCown, Fitzpatrick, and Tyrod Taylor serving as bridge QBs. Taylor was making a lot even though it was clear there was no future there. So I think trade is unlikely but possible. $18M is no longer a huge amount for a QB. The Jags were paying Bortkes more than that. They could be a team who bites either by trading a low level pick (Ravens likely to take anything to get that deal off the books) or sign him as a FA, maybe in the $10-15M range with team out after a year.

The original discussion was his trade value, me saying it’s zero because of his 18 mill paycheck.

Mccown and Fitz were starters, not bridges.
Taylor was clearly a mistake, and he just led a team to the playoffs.

I get the concept but it’s joe Flacco.
I wouldn’t be surprised if retires tbh.
Bottled was their top 5 pick that they believed would develop, not a 34 year old declining qb.

In any event there is no way you are going to convince me that any team will pay more than backup pay for joe Flacco.

Flacco hasn't been more than an average QB for several seasons. You really think Flacco at this point is an upgrade from Tannehill?
Yes.

Why would anyone believe Flacco could be a difference maker?
...Surely you don’t think he is a difference maker do you?
Not really, but you have to look at it from the other teams' perspectives as they consider who at that position would be available.

Yes we've established that I'm the only person in the world that believes Flacco will get a contract and I'm also stupid, so easy bet. You in or not?
And by the way, you're not anonymous, you're the world renowned AndyJohnson.
