Kliff Kingsbury wants to pursue NFL job

Pretty interesting given he flopped as a NCAA head coach, and doesn’t give a lick about defense. I hope things work out and the Jets make him their HC.
What about OC if we need to replace McDaniels?
I'm warming up to Boyer replacing Flores.

Considering he was in the big 12 and had to compete with the likes of Texas and A and M for recruits and even OU, doesn’t suprise me he didn’t do that well, but what does suprise me was that he took that OC job at Southern Cal so quickly. I mean he knew he had back teams interested, atleast There were rumors. Now he can’t even be interviewed because SC is blocking it. Someone would have to blindly offer him

His only option is to resign ...
Anybody that signs him now will forfeit draft picks ...
I think he will resign ... don't blame him either ... go for it.

Is there a link to these new rules? I've heard references to them, but I can't find anything on Google about them.

I gather Icy was being sarcastic.

Maybe about that part, but I've seem references to new rules on Twitter, too, in regard to other college coaches.

Isn't it a tad late to throw his hat into the ring?? Would not think that the teams looking for a coach would want to wait all that long before they decide and begin to prepare for the 2019 season.

Then leaving USC before he even gets a chance to see how he does on that big stage, may sour a few owners as well.

Report: USC is denying NFL teams permission to interview Kliff Kingsbury
But athletic directors are allowed to deny NFL teams permission to interview their coaches and, per Adam Schefter, NFL teams have been told to respect those requests or face consequences.
At last month’s NFL owners meetings in Dallas, league officials informed team executives that they now had to request permission from college athletic directors to interview college coaches. Not doing so would be considered “conduct detrimental” and the NFL then could dock draft picks from teams, sources said.
“If permission is denied, the NFL club should respect that decision just as it would respect a similar decision from another NFL club,” the rule states in part. “NFL clubs that fail to follow these protocols may be subject to disciplinary action for conduct detrimental to the League.

I don’t get why USC isn’t allowing a coordinator the chance to interview for NFL jobs.

Because he just took the job in the last few weeks

As a HC id tend to agree but he’s not making a lateral move. Plus he’s prob going to quit if they deny him the chance anyway.

Probably because he signed a contact last month.

Ok, and Miami’s new HC signed a contract to become temples HC 3 weeks ago. A buyout was reached and temple let him go. Kingsbury isn’t even trying to interview laterally, he’s wanting to interviewfor NFL HC/OC jobs.
