Is Brian Flores really ready to become a HC???

It doesn't seem like he's ready, but being Afro-American is a significant advantage re. the Rooney Rule.

Not at this point. It may have helped get him an interview, but that's the extent of the advantage. As there are no hiring mandates with the rule, Flores has no greater or worse chance than any other interviewee would.

Not convinced any of this interest is genuine... stay tuned.

Bert Breer made an interesting point yesterday, that Flores is 37 years old and by agreeing to a multiyear contract ( probably in the range of 25 million) that could be a life changing decision for him and his family.. why not??

Jesus, thank you. I'm tired of people acting like football is a holy quest. If I'm him I don't give a **** if I'm ready or not I'll pocket all the money I need in case I never work again and give it a shot.

If I'm him I've already been working on what it takes to be a quality HC. He has one of the best teachers at his side and would be a fool not to take the chance at a promotion with another team. I'd wish him luck too.

I think Flores, like so many others here, has a better chance at a job because he's been working closely with Bill Belichick.

Yeah, the opportunity to bank $10M, pay for the kids college, and seriously upgrade the quality of life for your immediate and extended family is the right choice. Can you imagine looking your wife in the eye and saying, "I don't want to do this; it might be really hard and I might fail." That would be incredibly selfish.

I don't know how anyone not closely connected to Flores and the team could possibly answer the question accurately.

Getting your foot in the door ahead of others is a significant advantage, regardless. And even if he doesn't get the job, it lays groundwork for his hiring to be more likely down the road as he matures.

Not a chance.

Is Brian Flores really ready to become a HC???

Flores' interviews reportedly off and running
NO, the mans been a position coach who has one season as the defacto defensive coordinator. I don't get why any gm would think that someone with that resume would think flores was qualified to be a head coach. But we are talking miami, a team that has been wandering in the head coaching desert since shuila left.

He's definitely not ready and doesn't have a resume that warrants a HC gig already, but as is tradition each year it seems, teams try to fleece the Patriots of every player and coach they can. They just constantly chip away at our organization and all of our homegrown talent, just praying for a tiny taste of that championship pedigree

Its also why we lose some players to huge contracts that aren't really worth the money they get.. we play in a lot of big games and have an efficient offense that most players could be productive in, so they leverage that into big money outside the organization. You're a mediocre WR? No problem, just catch a TD in the superbowl and you'll increase your salary x4

Why are people saying Flores isn't ready? Because he needs to be a coordinator longer?

As seen with McVay, giving fresh blood a start is almost certainly a better decisiom than retreading some known quantity like Hue Jackson or whatever guy who's proven himself useless already. Give him a few years and yank him if he fails. It isn't that hard. Plenty of guys will get jobs as HCs this offseason who probably don't have half the acumen of Flores.

I believe Flores is Hispanic (Hondurian).

Yes

Some teams think that experience is irrelevant. That's fine. Others believe that successful experience as a coordinator is essential.

Flores relevant "experience" is the 2018 success of the patriot defense.

Why are people saying Flores isn't ready? Because he needs to be a coordinator longer?

In a sense, yes. He's been a positional coach his entire career until this year. Not to say that he couldn't succeed as a head coach, but I don't think many other teams have to worry about their first year coordinators being scooped up for head coaching positions as much as we do

It makes sense I guess, maybe its just more frustration talking in that we groom these people within the organization and the second they get to any meaningful role another team comes in and scoops them up

Our divisional rivals are walking blindly thru a desert half the time, so sometimes its simply a matter of them wanting to take our people out of spite to hurt us more than help themselves

Technically is any coach ready who has never been a head coach?
An above average OC and DC and GM can help cover inexperience for a while.
As long as he starts out from day 1 as his own man he has a chance.

I just hope he's ready to be a DC...next week! I don't think it's a bad idea to take a shot on a young guy if all that's out there are the usual retreads.

I’m not sure Vrabel is bad necessarily. Didn’t do anything in particular to make the team worse than they were last year.

Why is it assumed he’s a bad HC?
I don’t think he’s a bad head coach. I just think he needed to cut his teeth a little bit more as a DC before becoming one. His first year wasn’t a good start, though. Took a team that went to the playoffs last year, with more weapons on both sides, and missed the playoffs in a much more wide open year.

They missed the playoffs by one game and Mariota missed several games and quarters due to injuries. Gabbert went 1-3 in games where he played the most and Mariota went 8-4 in his games. Mariota also lost 2 games by 1 point each. Context.
