B.G.C. 2019 NFL Draft/Patriot-Type Players Thread

Been

Thinking about this everyday. I really want to see what he measures. He'll kill testing but is he 275 or a whisker under 300?

If he's close to 300. Test well & falls outside of 10-11 it would be tough not to consider it.

Lately elite guys have been in that range (10-15)

He reminds me of Donald so much it’s worrying. The only thing I’m worried about is how would he fit in our scheme. I think I’m one of the rare people to have him over Bosa

That’s what I was thinking. I’m not sure what we would need to give up to get him though.

Oliver is a pure one gapper and probably not a great fit in our system.

He's been a fantastic run defender, owning the los his entire career so far. Routinely doubled, sometimes tripled. He's a 3T but absolutely can control the los.

Equating size to technique or w/e isn't the way to go. How many times have we seen Shelton get rag dolled at 350.

From what I’ve seen Oliver is going to go between 5-20 range. If he falls within 15 range I would want to trade up and get him. Would be a huge upgrade

I get some concerns w him. He's smaller, sure. He's also been the only guy any OC has to worry about on that side of the ball. Routinely doubled. He might not be the rusher Donald is but he's been a bull in the run game. A total bull. I couldn't imagine him not being a productive player for years. Again he's going to be playing the best in the world.

He's perfect here. Long history of players with his skill set excelling in NE, but I don't know if any of them have had his raw speed. Exciting player.
Pretty refined r/r too. Tiny but he belongs to be out there.

He seems to be about Brandin Cooks' size.
Around there but I think Cooks is a lil thicker & bigger. Love to see Andy make a career & beat the odds. Has everything against him so I'll be rooting for him.

Like most things the draft goes in cycles. Last year you had a bunch of younger guys come out so this year will be thin. Next year could top 2018 which is nuts when you consider how good this class has looked.

If I'm NE Im really thinking or hoping I should say a team knocks on the door in RD1 looking for a trade. Get another 1st Rd pick for 2020. Most fans won't like it but it's the right move considering the ammo we have on Rd2/3.

Not an absolute but I'm not reaching for some player bc of need.

I'd love to load up for a run at a QB in 2020. Imagine going from Brady to Tua in a few years?

Yeah I mean I want to build an elite team all around him but the league is set up where you can only win by efficient QB play.
It's all about the QB. If you know what you're doing it really only take 2-3 years to build a contender but you're nothing wout a QB.
Going from Tom to Tua or another great prospect is 1-3 on the list of most important things imo

Let me ask a serious question: how likely is it that teams would even let BB trade up high enough to get a "can't miss" QB?

I think acquiring talent in 2019 should be the primary focus. In 2020 there are going to be tons of good QB prospects. My favorite will be Lawrence in 2021 though.

I've thought about this & keep coming back to a "business is business" bottom line. If mafia bosses & drug kingpins can work together than hopefully teams won't black ball us.

Maybe a few guys, a team here or there... Certainly some AFC teams.

I think as long as we have the ammo we could do it. As it looks now next year's class will dominate the lottery so getting in the top 10 might be enough to get the job done. Looks like we'll have 4-5 really good prospects.

I'm w you but unfortunately these QBs go early. We have to seriously consider it imo. We have multiple 2's/3's so thats more than enough to maneuver up if we want & get atop Rd & still have 2 3rds to play with.

I would be very happy w 2-3 impact players & 2 2020 1st Rd picks.

With 6 of the first 100 picks in this draft, we should get at least 4 defensive starters, 1 offensive starter and one super backup.

We can use our first in 2020 to draft Fromm from Georgia and keep the train running.
