WR

The Pats have to land a dynamic WR in this draft. A beast that can play on a rookie deal for a few years.

They won't draft an impact wide receiver high. The position carries additional risk in the Patriots system where a lot of veterans have been unable to pick up the system and chemistry with Brady. That's why they consistently settle for mid-round picks on WRs.

It is not Michel IMO.
It is Easley, Brown, #1 that we lost.
3 first rounders that we missed.

Garoppolo is another first rounder (at least one) that was wasted, but John Lynch is happy.

Michel was not a bad first round pick. Wynn I can understand but BB could have moved up a few slots to select Derwin James or LVE.

The Patriots' MO in the first round, at least, is that they don't trade up just to "get a guy." They'll trade up if (A) they believe a player is worth taking at the higher position, and (B) expect that he won't be there at their current position. The same goes for trading down: they'll trade down if they feel what they get in return is better than any player they could get at their original position. (Case in point: they had a trade in place with Houston in 2015, but canceled it when the Colts passed on Malcom Brown.)

Also, the absence of a trade doesn't mean they didn't try to make one. It's possible no one was willing to make a trade they could live with.

You know that’s not what I said.

And brady can thank Belichick for his.
If you seriously think that Belichick has not done the greatest coach/gm job in nfl history here, then you are just someone not worth discussing the sport with.

Greatest coach, yes. Greatest GM job, lol.

And I stand by my belief Brady is the biggest/main reason for NE’s super bowls rather than Belichick.

Shouldn't be too bad

We only need a future starting QB, TE, WR corp, defensive line, and linebackers

draft defense and spend FA $$ on offense until Brady retires

What GM has had better results?
None.

That’s your opinion. If you think brady wins 5 with any other coach you are on crack.

We will have 6 picks in the first 3 rounds. Plenty of ammo to reenergise the team. Front 7 and TE/WR the priorities, as well as trying to find a QB.

The good news is you can normally find WR/TE contributors in the 2nd/3rd round. Focus on a front 7 difference maker in the 1st round.
I agree, you can definitely find good TE2/WRs in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Here are the WRs & TEs drafted in the 2nd & 3rd rounds of the last 2 drafts.

2018 2nd round

40. Denver Broncos: WR Courtland Sutton, SMU (gonna be a stud)
42. Miami Dolphins: TE Mike Geisicki, Penn State (was a HUGE Geisicki fan)
44. San Francisco 49ers (trade up): WR Dante Pettis, Washington
47. Arizona Cardinals: WR Christian Kirk, Texas A&M
49. Philadelphia Eagles (trade up): TE Dallas Goedert, South Dakota St. (incredibly GREAT pick)
51. Chicago Bears (trade up): WR Anthony Miller, Memphis
60. Pittsburgh Steelers: WR James Washington, Oklahoma State (had a big game against us)
61. Jacksonville Jaguars: WR D.J. Chark, LSU

2018 3rd round

81. Dallas Cowboys: WR Michael Gallup, Colorado State (playing well for Dallas)
86. Baltimore Ravens (trade down): TE Mark Andrews, Oklahoma
91. New Orleans Saints: WR Tre’Quan Smith, UCF (excellent rookie season)
98. Houston Texans: TE Jordan Atkins, UCF

2017 2nd round

37 Buffalo Bills Zay Jones WR East Carolina
40 Carolina Panthers Curtis Samuel WR/RB Ohio State
44 Los Angeles Rams Gerald Everett TE South Alabama
45 Chicago Bears Adam Shaheen TE Ashland
62 Pittsburgh Steelers JuJu Smith-Schuster WR USC
(GREAT PICK)

2017 3rd round

69 Los Angeles Rams Connor Kupp WR Eastern Washington
(GREAT PICK)
72 Tennessee Titans Taywan Taylor WR Western Kentucky
79 New York Jets ArDarius Stewart WR Alabama
82 Denver Broncos Carlos Henderson WR Louisiana Tech
84 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Chris Godwin WR Penn State

Just adding this, we picked Garcia instead of Kareem Hunt

85 New England Patriots Antonio Garcia OT Troy
86 Kansas City Chiefs Kareem Hunt RB Toledo

96 Detroit Lions Kenny Golladay WR Northern Illinois
98 Arizona Cardinals Chad Williams WR Grambling State
106 Seattle Seahawks Amara Darboh WR Michigan

Not saying you can hit on every pick. But you can't keep passing up good talent. Pats had 3 second round picks in the 2018 draft, and walked away with just one selection, Duke Dawson, late in the 2nd round. Can't keep trading forward and bypassing players that can help you NOW instead of 2021. The 2013-2018 drafts have ruined this teams chances of maintaining a championship caliber team.

What makes you think we can draft a quality receiver?

With all due respect Froob even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.

None.

Results because of Brady. Look at Bill’s recent drafting and tell me with a straight face he’s a great GM.

He just did not ask you that??

We all know Bill the GM is going to go offensive line and defensive line with most of his top picks...10 of Bill the GM's top 16 picks in the draft (top 4 picks in each last 4 drafts) have been either offensive or defensive linemen...we've had star studded success as well, with guys like Derek Rivers, Dietrich Wise, Vincent Valentine, Antonio Garcia, Malcolm Brown, and the IMMORTAL Geneo (why the "e" before the "o"?) Grissom....Bill's been knocking it outta the park lately, eh?

Wow, it is scary how ****ing bad the drafts have been lately - spare me the "always picking low" BS....there's not one game changing player in a long time, and I'm not sure I'm calling Trey Flowers a game changer - good pick, yes, but not a game changer...

I hope Gordon straightens his life out but when you put your Team in a position to rely on a Guy who is one piss away from getting a Lifetime ban that is not a good GM territory right there. The Gordon move was out of desperation and it backfired I dare any homer to dispute that!!!

Some of those Second and Third Rounders were Great ST's players who can't cut it in the Regular O or D. But they were great picks when GM BB drafted them. Other Teams drafts future Starters we draft ST's players.
