I’m not giving up on the season (still think they can make it to the AFCCG). Regardless of the end result, the news of Josh Gordon has left this team with so many holes to fill - on both sides of the ball. It seems like we need multiple offseasons to fix this mess. What does BB need to focus on to turn things around? To me it’s WR and DT.

Edit: I know we can address some needs via free agency but the Pats have never been heavy players in the FA market so I chose to focus on the draft.

It’s pretty impossible to say given that there are going to be a ton of additions and departures before the draft. The Patriots’ success in 2019 is going to depend a lot more on free agency and trades than draft picks.

WR

The Pats have to land a dynamic WR in this draft. A beast that can play on a rookie deal for a few years.

Best player available for rounds 1-2. They are needing more this off-season than any I can remember in the Belichick era.

I disagree on the casual stance on Draft picks we need to be aggressive and move move up and get our guys not sit back and let the draft come to us *A GM BB Practice*. That needs to stop we have plenty of Draft capital use them and Move Up!

They’ll need to do that through FA or a trade. Aside from the fact that the pick will need to contribute immediately, the team has missed often over the years there.

In the draft, they need to go DL. DT first and maybe DE second. They need two DTs though.

The Patriots draft strategy typically seems to focus on best player available. Not that team needs aren't a factor in the equation, but they won't take a C player at a position of need over an A player at a position of strength. For one, it's hard to predict which rookies will come in and contribute right away, so planning on them filling a need is risky at best. For another, deep positions have a way of sorting themselves out through injuries and surprise play, and trades are always an option.

So the strategy is the same after this year, there just might be a few more positions where rookies would have a better chance of earning a big role on day 1.

Not only do we need to hit a 2010/12 level grand slam in next years draft we also need to pray that JC Jackson, Bentley, and Wynn can play. And Duke Dawson I guess.

They better not pass on DL early on this draft.

What specific position the Pats target matters a lot less than just finally having a good draft again. Virtually every position on the roster is either a need now or will be a need within 2 years. It's not like the Pats are set up and down the roster and just have 1-2 critical needs that should maybe be valued over everything else. And there's a silver lining to that I guess, because when the Pats have gone into drafts with rosters like that they typically haven't fared too well.

Please add TE to the poll. Gronk is probably finished when the 2018 season ends. It was a crime that Belichick ignored the 2018 draft when it was so DEEP in quality pass catching TEs. Same in 2017. Also a crime that the QB situation wasn't addressed either when the draft was so deep in QBs.

Though I think they can address some offensive holes in Free Agency, I feel they can't go bargain basement for those positions.

Draft strategy needs to change. There are immediate needs. No more of this trading a 2nd round pick for a 2021 2nd round pick. Stop passing up good talent.

We will have 6 picks in the first 3 rounds. Plenty of ammo to reenergise the team. Front 7 and TE/WR the priorities, as well as trying to find a QB.

The good news is you can normally find WR/TE contributors in the 2nd/3rd round. Focus on a front 7 difference maker in the 1st round.

Not probably Gronk is finished the writing on the wall with him.

GM BB has gotten us 8 consecutive first round byes, 7 consecutive afccg, 3 of the last 4 (and 8 of the last 17) ac championships and 2 of the last 4 and 5 of the last 17 world championships.
I think I like his way of doing things better than yours.
