I was reading some interesting trivial facts that may alter our perception of time. Some examples:

When Cleopatra was born, the pyramids in Egypt were already older than Cleopatra would be if she were still alive today.

Ralph Macchio is older today than Pat Morita was when he played Mr. Miyagi in The Karate Kid. (That one still blows my mind)!

Anyway, I tried to come up with some football ones...

Tom Brady's first SB win is closer in time to the SB XX loss to the Bears than to today.

And even better...

The Jets ONLY Super Bowl is closer in time to World War 1, Babe Ruth on the Red Sox, and the fall of the Ottoman Empire than to today.

JETE

At the moment my perception of time is you may have too much of it on your hands

(oh, and of course the Jete suck...all the time)

Newgrange in Ireland is older than the pyramids. The Brady 86 Superbowl one is good. Yes, Jets one better. lol.

Very true. What's sad is i stumbled upon the time perception thing and immediately thought of how I could relate it to football. Obsession.

More than half the people who watched the Jete win their post-season exhibition game vs. Baltimore 50 years ago (both live and on TV) have since died of natural causes.

All joking aside, particularly with it being holiday time and the family memories that come with it, I am often struck at this time of year with a poignant feeling for the one way flow of time. When I see our children being Santa to their own, some assembly required items being dropped off here for me to put together and keep hidden away the same way I used to bring them to my Mother's, breaking out the decorations that go back generations.

Savor the moments that make a lifetime, time only moves in the one direction...and that right quick.

Including Namath. It's just that no one has told him yet.
Have you seen him in those Medicare commercials? (shudder)

A little OT but something regarding time that I'll always enjoy is that I watched BB and Brady win the first three SBs before my kids were born and win the last two with them. That's just awesome.

The Red Sox won 4 World Series from 2004 - 2018 (15 seasons).

The Patriots won 4 Super Bowls from 2001 - 2014 (14 seasons).

Nobody calls the Red Sox a dynasty but everyone agrees the Pats were / are one. It’s all about how the championships are distributed.

(Obviously there are other things you can say about that but I thought it was interesting ).

That's great Tony. My sons have gone from teens to men during this golden era, while theirs have known nothing but success. It's amusing to see the grandkids roll their eyes at their fathers' tales of woe being kids freezing their butts off on aluminum bleachers watching a losing team in the old cement bowl but recognizing in their *****ing an affection for the old dump and having grown up 'Patriots Kids' when it was far from a happening thing. Old Pat Patriot is worn like a badge of honor in our family

Good argument but the Sox didn't go to every other ALCS. Had a couple of losing records and missed the playoffs 6 times. But if you want to call them a dynasty I wouldn't say that you're wrong. It's been a great run as well and possibly more on the way.

Led Zeppelin II came out 24 years after the end of WWII.

That was 49 years ago.

Interesting how, at that time, music from 1945 seemed so darn old. Does Zeppelin (and other of their ilk) sound that old to young ears, I wonder?

No sports connection though I guess maybe the Jets super bowl fluke thing matches up a bit.

The Red Sox sepnt a number of those years in the basement and out of the playoffs the Patriots AVERAGE ? 2 playoff games per season, 12 CCGs over an 18 year period. Apples and Oranges in terms of dynasty. The Patriots are ALWAYS in the conversation for the Championship even when they don't win

I once depressed myself by coming to realize that the release date of the "futuristic" Star Wars is now closer to the beginning of WW2 than to the present time. Masochism.

Let's just pretend we're talking about the new releases of Star wars, star trek and lost in space. :D

On that note....

Mark Hammil is now older than Alec Guiness was when he played Ben Kenobi
