I don't start threads but I was curious what people's thoughts are on Josh Gordon after 12 weeks... I was skeptical when they made the trade but I think it has paid off this season. Do you think there is any way he is a Patriot next year?

Thanks.

He's lost a step which is probably why they didn't try him on some of the deeper routes on Sunday and kept him to more of the intermediate routes and short crossers/slants. But he's still dangerous with the ball in his hands and his presence has very much opened up the offense for the rest of the receivers.

Does a Bear Sh!t in the woods??:D

Since the Chicago game his pace over 16 games would have him with 70 rec 1353 yards which 1353 would have him top 5 all-time single season for Pats

Welker 1569 (2011)
Moss 1493 (2007)
Morgan 1491 (1986)
Welker 1354 (2012)
Welker 1348 (2009)
Gronk 1327 (2010)

I started at Chicago because at that point he had been practicing in the system for 4 weeks

He'll probably be back but the Pats can't rely on him. They need to address this position early in the draft. They missed out on Calvin Ridley who I thought they would take after the Cooks trade.

Gordon has been a dependable WR so far when targeted. But he's also taking the pressure off of Edelman and Gronk.

Satisfied. He's kept his head down, kept his nose clean and done his job. Good work so far. If Gordon is content to play a smaller role in a winning organization rather than trying for greener pastures where he might be The Guy, I'll be content to see him in my team's uniform.

*White: 11 games
.. 67/94 tgts (71%) .. 567 yds (8.5 ypc) .. long = 37 .. 6 TDs

Edelman: 7 games
.. 44/61 tgts (72%) .. 510 yds (11.6 ypc) .. long = 36 .. 3 TDs

GORDON: 8 games
.. 31/54 tgts (57%) .. 547 yds (17.6 ypc) .. long = 55 yds .. 2 TDs

GRONK: 8 games
.. 32/50 tgts (64%) .. 504 yds (15.8 ypc) .. long = 42 yds .. 2 TDs

Hogan: 11 games
.. 25/38 tgts (66%) .. 380 yds (15.2 ypc) .. long = 42 yds .. 2 TDs

Dorsett: 11 games
.. 27/32 tgts (84%) .. 256 yds (9.5 ypc) .. long = 20 yds .. 2 TDs

Patterson: 11 games
.. 13/18 tgts (72%) .. 120 yds (9.2 ypc) .. long = 55 yds .. 2 TDs

I'd say that Gordon is fitting in very well.

----- [SIDEBAR]:

*in 11 games, WHITE has already had a career season:
... 870 yds from scrimmage and 10 TDs on 137 touches
... 717 yds from scrimmage and 5 TDs on 99 touches in 16 games in 2016 was his previous high.

White is on pace for 1,265 yds and 14 TDs on 199 touches.
DLew had 1,110 yds and 9 TDs on 212 touches in 16 games last season.

I am rooting for the guy SO much. He seems to be fitting in well. I think he’ll continue to have some big/huge plays down the stretch. I love how Brady was acknowledging his great catch yesterday. He’s incredibly talented.

I guess I agree with this. I was really down on him after Tennessee. Didn't think he got separation and didn't fight for the ball. This week he was great. I think some of the improvements came from the routes called for him this week. I don't care for him on Gronk type contested catches but he has great hands when uncontested

Hes paid off as it is with his current production and run blocking abilities , and theres still more potential for big plays / clicking with brady on the comeback route. This was a major area of need early on even with Edelman returning , So far a huge win

Gordon’s current form without his prior speed: Better version of 2014 Lafell, Top 30 WR in the league.

If his speed came back he’d be right there with all the top guys. Any idea of how that could happen at age 27? If there’s still hope his deep speed could come back then he could be a stud next year.

I am pleased but not ex-freakin-static. When Moss came in here, he was other worldly. Unfortunately, that's where the bar is set. He's less than Moss, way more than Ocho Cinco.

He looks to me, and a lot of you from the sounds, like a really big, athletic guy with great hands, who's not nearly as fast as he used to be. I was worried about him, especially during the off week, that he would return to his partying ways. Looks like he made it thru that.

I think when the calendar turns to January, the guy is gonna go off.
