Gordon being held out for a quarter tonight at Buffalo for being late

I stopped paying attention a long time ago. more than 20 years ago. Every single news story I had inside facts have been misreported. The number is over 30 now, but it was at merely a dozen back then. Some were just misquotes. Others distorted to be outright false. The media is 30 for 30 on getting it wrong from my personal sample. 100% of the time. Yet when I read or watch something, I still digest it like they are facts. I just have to stop consuming it. I’m better informed by knowing nothing than being filled with suspect information.

Don’t get me started on the things they decide that aren’t even newsworthy.
I have a much smaller sample size and it was totally unrelated to sports but I had the same experience. Story I was intimately familiar with was covered by a major publication with huge inaccuracies and embellishments. More like a dramatized movie of what actually happened than a factual report.

Mine range mostly from local stories ranging to international interest. A lot of local crime, business and technology, or human interest. In several locations. When I bring this up to people, I often hear others have the same experience. I have had people defend the media to me, but they have never been able to provide a single example of a report that was 100% accurate. It’s not just the US either. It’s also not new. A false report of an aviation bombing led France and Germany to abandon diplomacy and declare war on one another to start WWI.

I wish they wouldn't allow Josh Gordon to do post-game pressers. He looks tortured up there and what is the point. Just make other guys available to the media.

Amen,

Not nearly as many as you have encountered, but in my life the media was wrong 5 out of the 5 times I had inside information on what was being reported.

And, when it does, I'll put it on IGNORE, just like I've done with all the other threads that have gotten derailed by the permanently distraught know-it-alls who are unwilling or emotionally unable to move on.

Seriously, I'm way beyond being tired of their dead-horse interjections into every topic that's even tangentially related.

Don't worry. I'll @ you so that you don't miss the good stuff.

i dont think anybody was suggesting that.
Talking about killing a guy, what else could they mean? Surely no one would talk about he who shall not be talked about.

I haven’t read all the interesting theories here.

Sounds like it could be multiple possible things.

Rappaport got bad info from sources who really are not insiders.
Belichick ‘walking back the cat’ to identify a leak.
Belichick changing his mind to spite the reporter.
Belichick actually changing his mind because winning the game became more important than the discipline.

For any of these one can argue ‘Belichick has never done that’ and one thing we can probably agree on is that Belichick doesn’t always do what Belichick always does.

So Rapaport explains his reasoning behind the false Gordon report. He confirmed w/3 sources. It seems like Bill “cancelled” the punishment to spite Rapoport.

Ian Rapoport Explains How His (Eventually Wrong) Josh Gordon Report Came To Be
I call BS. Every piece of historical evidence I recall regarding the media vs. Bill Belichick tells me this is what occurs:
1. When they think they legitimately have Bill in a "Gotcha!" situation , they question him relentlessly. 2. When they conclude that they f##### up and/or got snookered, they drop it like a hot potato. I think it was a false report. I might be wrong, but that's what I think.

Would love to see Gordon pull in a couple of more long ones I have have him for two Drops on long balls that hit him right in the hands. Clean that up Josh: Brady can't throw it and catch it he's not Marcus Mariota.

I'll go by what Steve Belichick said about his son after SB 36.

I'll never forget the question and the response.

Reporter (I think it was Mike Lynch who asked it): "Did Bill convey any doubts or indecision to you about starting Tom Brady over Drew Bledsoe?"
Old Man Steve: (reacted as if he was insulted and about to hit Lynchie over the head with a hammer). "My son doesn't have an indecisive bone in his body.".

His decisions may be right or wrong but once Bill decides something, he goes with it.

There was no reversal of any punishment. If Josh was late the punishment was not a public thing (a fine, run up the hill 50 times, etc)

I firmly believe it was Bill planting fake news to rattle the media.

Or just a faulty source. Either way, I don't think Belichick went back on it, either. This is the same guy that benched Butler and started Rowe in his place in the Super Bowl.
