Gordon being held out for a quarter tonight at Buffalo for being late

So, in the post-game presser, Gordon was asked about the reports and essentially said, "IDK. You'll have to ask Coach."

Then BB gets asked and says, "I have no clue. You'll have to ask whoever wrote it."

Healthy skepticism of the media doesn't seem to exist anymore. Most people either immediately and fully buy into whatever melodramatic controversy the media is offering up today, or they automatically reject whatever is being reported, depending on their confirmation bias on the topic.

It actually sounds like it could have been disinformation.

Agree. Rapaport was fed bad info. Either he or his source were fed bad info and/or jumped to conclusions

Ian Rapoport?Verified account @RapSheet
Sources: The #Patriots are disciplining WR Josh Gordon during tonight’s game vs. the #Bills because of tardiness. He’s expected to be kept off the field for several series — about a quarter — as they continue to work with & manage him. It’ll be regular playing time after that.

No wonder they want a #1 badly now

FAKE NEWS!!!!!

Obviously someone told him this (I don't think he just made it up ala CNN), so either that person lied to him, or BB got wind of what they were saying pre-game (which I doubt before a game BB is watching the ESPN or NFLN pre-game shows), and decided to make them look like fools.

This is the oldest trick in the book. BB needed to find the rat so he told everyone a different player was going to be disciplined by being benched in the first quarter. All he had to do was sit back and wait to see who's name was leaked and he'd know who the snitch was. Chess and checkers my friends. Chess and checkers.

It’s not just the media. People are generally a lot less likely to seek answers themselves. It’s a generation of lazy. Everyone wants to be forced fed. People believe whatever you tell them now without even trying to research it themselves.

It’s was said this week by multiple players. It doesn’t matter who you are, if you don’t follow the rules you will be disciplined.

This is BB who benched Malcolm Butler in the Super Bowl for whatever reasons while watching his defense struggle and still refused to put him in the game.

If Gordon was late he would have been disciplined.

BB doesn’t GAF who you are or what the team needs.

This wasn’t a conspiracy, this was the Bills or someone else trying to screw with Gordon and the Pats.

If BB played him after telling the team he would be disciplined, he would have lost that locker room and any credibility he had with his players.

It’s not BB M.O.

I wish they wouldn't allow Josh Gordon to do post-game pressers. He looks tortured up there and what is the point. Just make other guys available to the media.

I stopped paying attention a long time ago. more than 20 years ago. Every single news story I had inside facts have been misreported. The number is over 30 now, but it was at merely a dozen back then. Some were just misquotes. Others distorted to be outright false. The media is 30 for 30 on getting it wrong from my personal sample. 100% of the time. Yet when I read or watch something, I still digest it like they are facts. I just have to stop consuming it. I’m better informed by knowing nothing than being filled with suspect information.

Don’t get me started on the things they decide that aren’t even newsworthy.

I am honestly not sure, but I don't think they have a choice. Certain players have to be made eligible. I mean, think about Marshawn Lynch from a few years ago. It wasn't just the Super Bowl Media Day where he gave his "I'm just here so I don't get fined" routine, he also did that during regular season post game pressers. That's a situation where I think Seattle would have gladly held him back if they were allowed to.

Anyone here know the specifics of what is and isn't allowed for the press availability?

Pats are purposefully leaking this info so that gordon knows how its done publicly. Otherwise when does BB announce benchings before the game ?

Hats off to the calm way you reacted and made your observations/suspicions, all of which confirmed that you were correct.

All the bitterness and misspent rage. You Gordon-bashers look quite ridiculous.
people just looking for a reason...waiting until he screws up. then they can get the satisfaction of saying 'I told you so". By all accounts, he is coming in and putting in the work. I'm sure if he was actually late or breaking any other rule, BB would have benched him.

I really hope it is nothing as dramatic as this. (Though if there is a rat, at least he's been exposed now.)

At the presser, it sounded to me like he was calling out Rap. Is there enough bad blood there that BB would be motivated to embarrass the guy?
