I haven't re watched it but it looked like he was trying to catch it. It also looked like he had a 48 inch vertical leap. haha

That really aggravates me- with zero time on the clock, just bat the ****ing thing down. Stop trying to grab it.

I am concerned with the amount of mental mistakes this team is making. At some point it’s going to bite them in the A**.

It’s very uncharacteristic of a BB team who prides himself at letting the other team make mistakes and yours minimal.

J.McCourty has been solid. His worst plays, for some reason, seem to be blown coverages with his brother. Otherwise, he’s added a stable force to the secondary. He’s been much better than training camp suggested he would be

Clayborn has been dreadful. He’s gotten some pressures but he loses the edge and containment every time he gets near the QB. He goes past the QB way too often and is a negative in the run game (as advertised). I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s gone before next season starts. He’s a complete waste of 6M. One sack in 7 games, only a few key pressures and a ton of yards allowed on runs and scrambles. The total lack of talent up front other than Flowers necessitates Clayborn playing but he’s a negative value player on the field.

Yep very undisciplined rusher Rodgers would rush for 500 against us. I don't care how many pressures Clayborn get some QB's thrive off pressures. QB pressure stats in the case of Clayborn is overrated.

Certainly not going to say players never lie, but during the week Gordon said his hamstring was 100% and thanked the NE trainers and that it was “nice to finally get to open it up all the way” when running. And in today’s game after that long play he said he had to come out for a couple of plays because he was “exhausted”.
In his defense, he really is playing at 100 + 10%. It really looks like he's giving it is all.

He has been taking a beating out there too. He had some good body slams to the ground the last few weeks.

Yesterday his head got knocked around and threw his helmet off.

I love his commitment.

I hope he can make it through the season

Buffalo has one of the worst offenses, if not the worst offense, in the NFL this year. They average a little more than 11 points per game. I wonder how many points our defense will give up next week.
20+ and then we just justify it by saying [insert Bills QB] had the game of his life.

This game was a repeat of the KC game last week including what now seems to be a weekly boneheaded Brady mistake that results in a turnover.

This time it was yet another bad decision. You are up multiple scores with about 7 minutes left. Just throw the ball in the ground or into the sideline and move on and don't go to your FB in the flat with a pass that just invites trouble. At least make it a laser or aim it at foot height so at worst it is an incompletion.
Really. They're lucky it wasn't a pick-6.

Good win.

Our lack of LB talent showed up again with Trubisky running wild on those broken plays. Van Noy should only be on special teams. So many bad angles or just don't have enough speed to catch the ball carriers.

I think our DBs aren't as bad as people suggest. And our DL also isn't as bad. It's our LBs that are killing our defense right now. HT has picked up his play. But everyone else is not 'NFL starter' quality.

And if you can't because the pass rush is closing in.. maybe that is a sign that you should not try in this situation.

*Threw pass that hit receiver in the hands.

Disagree with you on this one.

While every quarterback has non-interceptions that should have been interceptions, Brady has at least three interceptions this year that are not his fault.

Including this one.

If his argument is that Trubisky made some poor throws and had some mental errors without pressure, then he’s probably correct. The pressure technique was an effective one, but Trubisky wasn’t as good as I expected him to be when he had time, either.

Deus claimed that the Patriots pressure on Trubisky had no effect on Trubisky's throws whatsoever. Whether he was pressured or not..

I think 5 of the 7 Brady interceptions this year have been ones that should have been caught by his receivers. The ball either bounced off their hands or was taken away like it was with Develin.

It was a bad (no juice behind it) and ill advised throw under pressure to your FB (!!) in the flat in a two possession game on the edge of FG range.

How that turnover is not based on a bad decision I can't comprehend. Just because it went off Develin's hand doesn't make the decision to throw the ball better. I would have said the same thing if it was a completion. You are just asking for trouble. Hell, if Develin doesn't wrap up this is most probably a pick 6.

Indeed. Pressures are misleading. Clayborn was likely credited with a "pressure" on Trubisky's TD run that embarrassed the defense. He would've had him dead to rights if he took the proper angle when continuing to persue him outside the pocket.

Well, to be fair, if that's a standard "deal" he has with the players (win and you get Monday off), it's probably short sighted to cancel it just because things were sloppier than you'd like. I'm sure he's still got a lot to rip them for in the film room, but let them get a mental breather first.

General game thoughts:

- Trubisky isn't good by any definition, but he had 9 TD's over the last two games. So it's not like you roll out of bed and stop him in today's NFL. His running was an issue, but I was encouraged by the pass defense overall.

SMH.. To say that Trubisky isn't good by any definition means you don't have the foggiest clue what you're talking about.

Did you see his stats for the 5 games PRIOR to playing the Pats. Guy had a 70.2% completion rate. Had 11 TDs and 4 ints.

On what planet is a 70% completion rate NOT GOOD?

I’d wager that Gordon can dunk.

I may have overstated (or misrepresented) what I was trying to say. I think, unlike Mahomes, Trubisky is the kind of young QB that Belichick tends to thrive against. He has a reputation for looking at his first read, and if it's not open, runs with the ball. As such, if BB and his staff can identify that first read based on tendencies, then he's "easy" to defend. Where the breakdowns occurred were in containment and tackling after he made the decision to run.

Not good was too strong, so I'll say mea culpa and roll back on that one.

I was fine with our performance with the exception of our qb contain. A few of Mitch’s runs were flat embarrassing for the defense
You could see that they were spying him after the last time he got free. Roberts and Van Noy were doing it.

Bentley absolutely was a starter, but the larger point is still true I guess.

Someone said they thought the LBs were the source of problems on this defense. I'm not so sure. I think it's the line, with Clayborn and Shelton embarrassing themselves on a weekly basis. The only knock on the LBs I have from yesterday, which might not even be their fault, is how often Burton was wide open in the middle of the field. Even then, I think you want a safety in coverage instead of a linebacker.

I don't think any level of the defense is playing particularly well, but if I had to rank them, I'd say secondary > linebackers > line.
