2018 Baseball Playoffs: ALCS, Red Sox vs Astros

It's ok to cheat in baseball...see section 3.12 of the Unwritten Rules....it's right before the clause on greaseballs, spitballs, scuffballs/nailfile-sandpaper.

I'm glad Osuna got lit up like a gas can and the Sox were the ones to do it. That scumbag shouldn't be in baseball after what he did to his girlfriend.

His 67 ERA this postseason should match years he spends in prison for that.

Sign stealing in baseball is not only commonplace, but also kind of unavoidable. Anything you do out in the open has the chance of being interpreted and acted upon. It seems like the Astros may have gone too far and used technological methods (which is the only part actually against MLB rules), but what SHOULD happen is it should be downplayed, they should get a slap on the wrist, and everyone should acknowledge that it's a non-issue really.

The answer to the buffoonery that was the Spygate reaction is not to demand an equally absurd reaction to every similar scandal. Let's acknowledge that for what it was: An overreaction to a minor infraction, and treat this one as such as well.

I'll never acknowledge Spygate as cheating. Bill tried to get too cute with the wording of the rules on taping but the taping itself was out in the open for all to see. A real cheater would have hidden the camera or whatever it was he was doing so it would be hard to catch.

What the Astros might have been doing though - that is a lot closer to the line than what we did.

We need a real baseball fan’s take on this. @Tunescribe thoughts?
Zzzzzzzzzz ... Huh? What?!

The best part about it is that the Indians told the Sox about it. Look if you can decipher another teams signs, that is not cheating, what this guy was doing was pointing a camera into the Sox dugout from a press area that he didn't have the credentials to be in. I guess maybe you can pick up the signs from Cora to his catcher/base coaches better? It doesn't seem to be that big of an advantage.

If you can steal the pitch signs, then you really do have a great advantage, provided that you can communicate them quickly to the hitter. This is where the electronics comes in, they say he was "texting a lot" so if say, he was able to steal the sign from the dugout to the catcher, and then text it to the Astros and they can make some kind of noise to alert the batter, that would be a big deal.
