We're on to Kansas City

I'm thinking receive because I want them to play from behind.
Why is that, Mack? The objective for Brady and the offense is to score on every drive. I don’t think that playing from behind is going to change much.

Both offenses are powerful and defenses are soft. I'm looking to put KC in unfamiliar situations hoping that Reid or Mahomes may be more likely to make a mistake. And while we are always looking to score, if you fall behind the pressure mounts and eventually your play selection is affected. As the playbook shrinks, advantage shifts to the defense. Against this offense, our defense could use any small advantage we can get.

Kelce is better than Gronk.

Hate to admit that but it is the truth. Kelce is faster. Defense needs to make him ineffective. Hill is the next problem. Fast and can play multiple roles. Many weapons to cover and then you have the mobility of Mahomes.

I dont like this match at all. Bend dont break, but KC will get in the redzone and can score via run game no problem whatsoever.

Are you a troll?

The only similarities that Kelce has to Gronk is his number, body type, and miss-assigned position. He’s a wide receiver and not even a top 30 wide receiver. Gronk is the best tight end in football because he actually plays tight end, rather than pretending to be a tight end.

I don't think that's quite fair to Kelce. He's probably in the 15-20 range for WR rankings.

And no free releases for Kelce or Hill. I know, I know, easier said than done. But you gotta interrupt timing and take away first reads.

Who is he better than?

Beckham
Jones
M. Thomas
Cooks
Landry
Jefferey
Hill
Evans
Hopkins
Brown
Smith-Schuster
Green
Sanders
D. Thomas
Hilton
Cobb
Adams
Diggs
Thielen
Tate
Allen

When you compare him to actual WRs he isn’t even in the same class as the good ones, even with Laser-man throwing to him.

Might (but might not) take Kelce over:
Cooks
Landry
Jeffrey
Smith-Schuster
Sanders
D. Thomas
Cobb
Adams
Diggs
Tate

That would likely put Kelce somewhere in the teens. Even if you put him directly after everyone you listed, he's the 22nd best, which isn't bad at all considering how many play.

Patrick Mahomes on scramble drill and broken plays

Wow. I anticipated a little right side bias, but not that much. That's a very useful coaching stat right there. Will be interesting to see if it's used at all.

Given how they put that bit about Julio favoring breaks to a specific direction due to his ankle injury into DYJ2 even though it didn't pan out I would be surprised if this is not incorporated into the coaches thinking.

I guess we'll agree to disagree. I would not put him directly after the 21 guys I listed; those guys are just clearly, without any doubt, better receivers and in another class. Then there's a ton of other guys (might include someone like Edelman if stays healthy) who are behind that class of clear cut #1 guys. Kelce is somewhere in that murky list of about 30 players.

My larger point overall is that Kelce is just a wide receiver and his overall "best in the league" is incredibly misleading. He shouldn't be compared with real blocking tight ends, and sure as heck isn't the best receiver in the league, or even in that class. Mahomes and Hill are the guys making everyone else appear better. Mahomes has played better than any QB in the league this year, and Hill has arguably been the best WR due to his incredible ability to take any play to the house if he isn't doubled. Defenses see Kelce as the lesser poison, which should say a lot when "comparing him" to Gronk even isolating Gronk's receiving skills only. Gronk is probably the most double teamed/ schemed out player in football. Kelce is one of five dangerous players in that offense.
