Clearly you didn't watch the game last night. The play-calling on offense is what didn't allow them to get into a rhythm. It was horrid. Look at the routes the receivers were running.. A majority of them were outside the hashmarks. That only HELPS the defense.

One of the greatest things about the 2001-2004 Patriots is that they ran TONS of slants and in cuts. By design, they help the receiver get open instead of relying on the receivers ability run past a defender or to juke the defender on a double move. We're not seeing those. Those were the plays that Hogan got open on with the Bills. Those are the plays that Amendola would get open on. Those are the plays that Edelman get's open on. But they aren't calling them here and it's an issue.

No, I watched the game and you’re right, I don’t disagree with a lot of what you said. However, not getting off the field on defense is impacting both sides.

McDaniels is flailing trying to make the crap talent on offense work. First, he tried forcing the ball to Patterson with gadget plays and trickery, when that proved to be a failure, he overcompensated and went to forcing Michel the ball with obvious and predictable play calls

Many OC look bad when they lack talent but McDaniels' worst tendencies always come out when he has no WR

Please stop talking because you clearly don't know wtf it is your saying. You're attempt to connect Patterson to Michel is pathetic. The ONLY thing you got correct is that the play-calling has been predictable, but you had it wrong in that it was only to Michel.

@RunDMC - You marking dislike on all my posts because I gave you one and said you were a troll only proves my point. Glad I blocked your sorry arse.

It's not rocket science. Three games into the season, the concerns that many on this board had during the offseason

Letting Lewis go
Letting Amendola go
Reliance on disappointments Shelton and Clayborne to fix the DL
Need of a worthy Butler replacement
Slow LBs
Not replacing Cooks
Not getting a safety to replace Richards

are all still concerns today, regardless of the "why" of any particular concern. And that's why the team is 1-2.

Nobody was worried about getting a safety to replace Richards. Trading Richards is a perfect example of addition by subtraction.

This is serious business.

I guess I'm just not ready to push the panic button yet because we've been here, so many times. 1-3 will be a yellow alert for me, if that happens, but given that I'm reasonably sure 10 or maybe even 9 wins will win our division I won't be ready to completely panic.

I'm very fatigued with our defense, but I can understand why they aren't going to change things - because it's been working so well for so long. Sure it sucks to watch as a fan but they're playing a numbers game not trying to give us something exciting to watch. Selfishly, as a fan, I do not enjoy watching it at all.

I'm not concerned with our STs and I think our offense will come together, provided we can retain some semblance of health, Burkhead notwithstanding.

Drinking the kool-aid is still the smart play when it comes to trusting this team and its staff.

After last night's 12 men on the field penalty...I wondered how often that happened with Belichick as our coach and found a link on the Internet that counts each penalty per team since 2009. Here are our numbers for 12 men on the field penalties since 2009:

2018: 1
2017: 1
2016: 3
2015: 1
2014: 0
2013: 2
2012: 2
2011: 3
2010: 1,
2009: 0

To me it also seem the DBs are reacting versus being proactive. They are always in chase mode, and not cover mode. It seems rare there is any break on a pass.

Why can’t they man up and jam and stick like glue to the receivers?

I like how the secondary lays back 10 yds on 3rd and 5.
Between the 20's, the strategy is..."Pray for a bad pass"
Nick Foles concurs.

They also sucked at tackling, reminds me of a guy we didn't put on the field during the superbowl that was good at just that.

As pathetic as taking sports so seriously as to get aggressive for no reason on a message board? As pathetic as being so riled up that you can't use "your" and "you're" correctly?

o_O

If you don't like my posts, put me on ignore and move on. No need to be hostile my man, it makes you look like you're compensating for something in life. Your unnecessary aggression did give me a good chuckle though, so thanks for that. Much needed after a bad loss.

I hope we’re not overselling Edelman’s return. He hasn’t played a real game since SB51. Almost 18 months ago. I think what he provides is exactly what the NE O is missing, but as I noted in the GDT what he provided for ‘13-‘17 was kind of a combo deal with Danny. This team might be 2-1 or 3-0 with DA in the fold, and that could be the difference between a home playoff game or not. I hope Jules is JULES, but I think that’s a lot to ask off the bat. He’s joining a very different - and a lot more desperate - team than he left.

Edelman is the Prince that was promised and will lead us thru the long night!

It was indeed addition by subtraction, but I still wanted another young Safety to replace Glitch and add to the pipeline.

I worry we don’t have enough picks to fix every issue on this defense, especially since we’re going to use a few on a QB and WR.
