The Josh Gordon Thread: Pats Officially Acquire Gordon for Fifth-Round Pick

If the argument is whether or not Belichick should offer a 4th or 5th round draft pick for two more years of a reasonably cheap deal, then I don’t have that strong of an opinion either way. If Belichick thinks it’s worth gambling on a mid-late round pick, so be it. If it’s anything else besides that, then I’d probably want him to hold off.

Gordon is/was a big time talent when he plays and it would be nice to have a big target who can help to shift coverage on the cheap. The obvious issue is whether or not he can actually see the field, and whether his attitude would be negative and potentially even contagious.

After 17 pages i gave yo give my opinion too...:)
75 % i woulk like to give him a chance...25% a lot of doubts...

Would be most shocking personell move of BBs entire tenure to bring someone in who might very well be the most unreliable player of this decade. He keeps living off a great season he had five years ago and missed over 50 games since then.

But as usual you have people salivating for what he was in 2013 while they are are calling out players like Cannon for missing games.

He was good in the 5 games he played last year.

But besides that can someone explain to me what big risk we would be taking trading for him. He fails a drug test that’s on him cut him and his $750,000 contract and lose out on what a 5th round pick. It’s not like he’s a malcontent and terrible locker room guy

A Josh Gordon that plays for the Patriots would be the most scrutinized man in NFL history.

He would have his fair share of enablers, but It would drive me to fire up the bong.

The guy has his faults. He’s an idiot but i think that relationship in Cleveland was gonna die out sooner or later. I hope he goes to the right team. If he goes back home i think the Texans would be a much better fit than the cowgirls.

The Browns coddled Gordon and did everything to believe in him and he still chit on the team. If Gordon changed his ways, the Browns would keep him and invest long term. They have had enough. Gordon is so delusional that he is expressing how much he loves Cleveland and the fans. He screwed over the city and franchise and is thanking them for the memories.

The Browns have won 1 game in 3 seasons.

Gordon is their best player on offense and the Browns are washing their hands on him. The enablers like Sashi Brown are gone and Dorsey is cleaning house.

Gordon is like the husband that you hope does not stop at the bar to wet his whistle on payday.

Glad I did not pick him in fantasy.

Let him screw Cleveland and the fans of other franchises.

Leave all stones unturned. The bottom of the roster hardly ever plays anyways and if one of these wrs work then that’s all we can hope for. Really no risk at all. Worst case would be getting released after four days, like the last wr we signed.

It's ludicrous to talk about a guy who's been suspended 56 out of a possible 97 games in the same breath as EITHER Moss or Dillon. Just ...ludicrous.

Thing is most of those 56 games he was banned was because he had a couple of beers on the plane and thought the season was over, as well as Darth Vader wanting to be seen in clamping down on bad behavior. Happily now I think those in position are starting to see drinking disorders and cannabis as an addiction illnesses as apposed to ****head behaviour.

What Michael Floyd did is 100x worse than anything Gordon has done.

I'd give up a conditional 4th, on him being clean this season.

I dont think his character is necessarily the issue as the strong culture and locker room in NE can easily handle him. But everything about the last 5 years screams unreliable to me which seems to be the biggest hurdle and I am not sure anyone in NE is willing to take that one.

Also what makes the entire Gordon saga so frustrating to me is that posters here seem to think he was frozen into carbonite in all those years. He is five years older with the experience of a third year player and has done zero to be held in such high esteem.

This is not Jordan coming back after taking a (forced) timeout from his career.

Since he was frozen in carbonite (2013):

11 games - 43 rec (92 targets), 654 yds, 2 TD. Yay? That target-to-reception ratio is...something.

The Cleveland QBs are again!? How can anyone judge stats in a bad light because of them.
