Dez is brilliant when things are going his way.

Would I bring him in? Yeah why not! It’s not going to do any damage to see what he’s still got left. Is a low risk high reward situation.

Is he the dez from a few years ago, no he’s not but he can catch cleanly and cause match up problems just from the size of him and the catch radius he has.

I’d bring him in see what he’s like if he’s going to be more of a pain than help just cut him

Still, I don't think he will be signed here simply cause his a walking loud-mouth headache, not because he sucks this much. I would be on board with him here, provided he danced according to our music or until I am proven wrong

Don't we have a history of turning around some of these veteran "malcontents"? Randy Moss comes to mind, but there were others as well.

It seems like he is too expensive for the Pats to take the risk or he would already be signed. They should try to get him on a one year "prove it" deal like they have with many other experienced, but maybe question-mark-filled vets.

The biggest problem with Dez IMO is that he forgot how to catch. His catch rate the last two seasons was appalling. You can chalk up some of that to Dak Prescott if you want... but his other receivers had at least league average catch rates for the most part, while Dez has consistently been a drop machine in 2016-2017.

It's been a long running complaint in Dallas that Dez isn't particularly smart or technical as a receiver even during his prime years, and was a guy that won by overpowering smaller DBs and making high difficulty catches. But for 2 years running he stopped making the catches, which renders his whole style of play pointless.

I'm fine taking him for a bargain price, maybe he gets over his dropsies with Brady delivering the ball to him and the Pats get a red zone nice role player in the bargain. But the bottom line is he's a mediocre scheme fit in physical decline, not a Randy Moss type of guy who is a megastar who just needs a new QB to blow up again.

Look you can be the contrarian about Dez having declined physically all you want but there are a ****ton of teams in need of difference makers on offense. If he still was anywhere close to "good" he would have been on a team already. Money is no argument if a player like him is still himself.

Hard telling not knowing.. without a serious injury , what is the drop-off in talent? He's got the catch radius like gronk. You saw gronk carch balls with guys around him . Point is you don't need much " separation.."

It's all about the money , and whether he's a good locker room guy. Then you have to fit him in your offense.. I'll give Patterson some more targets and see how that works. If there's an injury.. knock on wood... Give him a tryout and a reasonable offer.

I think he could make some plays in space and along the boundary, esp to his point of defenses not being able to key on him in NEs offense means he would be able to win some of those matchups with his size and body position (somewhere between WR and TE) even if he didn’t have a 100% grasp on the O and full route tree....thinking part time Brandon Lloyd. That obviously would impact his ability to fully mesh with Brady and the squad as a whole.

Probably a weird culture fit, and would have to acquiesce to a minimal role. As many have said, nothing to lose by trying it out early in the season here if he can make that kind of compromise and look at it as an opportunity to win a title and/or earn a deal elsewhere next year.

If he can't pick up the O or run the proper route, don't sign him.

I think Dez is like a girl the more you ignore them the more they get desperate and turned on and throw themselves at you.

Dez is getting close to vet minimum money Belichick is playing this like a true pimp.

I think if Webb were actually 5'10", and not 5'8" listed at 5'10", it might make a difference into people's perception of him, and honestly, my own perception.

Maybe's he's Joe Morris and he'll prove everyone wrong. I suppose we're going to find out soon enough either way.

Aside from the fact that this lack of work ethic doesn't fit with the Pats philosophy or locker room, guys who take that approach simply become less capable and less productive when their physical gifts begin to wane as they get older.

Dez turns 30 on November 4th. Perhaps the most appropriate contrast would be Hogan. He turns 30 eleven days before Dez. He didn't begin his career with the physical gifts that Dez had, but he's continued to become more productive over the past two seasons while Dez has clearly been in decline.

Webb's pre-draft measurements were 5092/202.
White's pre-draft measurements were 5091/205.

White has developed fairly well.

What intrigues me is nothing is more powerful in sports with than a gifted athlete with a chip on his shoulder.
