There were reports and projections Pats might keep Gillislee AND Hill for some Burkhead, Michel insurance early. Glad that not happening.

And hopefully this is confirmation that injury concerns for Burkhead, Michel and Hill are minor as reported.

When it comes to the second round, Bill thinks he's smarter than everyone else. History says that may not be true

And in theory, it wouldn’t be difficult to convince him to join the Pats’ PS instead of the Titans’. He’s obsessed with Brady.

Yeah and one of Etling and Falk could eventually replace Hoyer short term (and cushion the loss of Brady at least with system players - until we get a solid Brady replacement).

Yeah he could be Brady’s gopher boy. No need to waste any effort trying to develop falk. His arm makes chad Pennington’s look like josh Allen’s.

I saw on a sports channel that the conditional 7th round pick for Richards was in 2020 ? Didn't make much sense.....on the second hand....

Is it possible we see the Wynn win IR-R shocker?

Foolish reports and projections. It was clear as day that Gilly was a dead man walking since the first preseason game.

I think people overrate Zo's connections. Do they really think he would be trusted with insider info when he's been known--actually, it's his job now--to get ****faced and speak as freely as possible on the air?

I do that every time I have to go to the Bears Den to watch a Pats game. Where's my money?

You know, cap'n, if you get someone to film you and put it up on YouTube, I think a few of your friends here on Patsfans might chip in a couple of bucks ...

That's a strong statement but there's not a whole lot of other ways to look at this. I think they are really overthinking their selections there in that part of the draft when there is no need for it.

You can draft players who at least stay in the league on a functional level in the 2nd round. A bust here and there happens but not at this rate. I think there is not a lot to think in the 2nd round, for me it's a round where you "go there and pick a player who can play on Sunday". There is a lot of receivers, RB's, Guards there to take that will make your roster and even if they do not shine they will play 4 years, get a new contract or go play on other team. Shane Vereen is a good example, probably the last decent player that was taken in the 2nd. This thing about players out of the league in 2 years, outright cut is 6th or 7th round material.

Every round or couple of rounds in the draft has a specific dynamic, I think the 3rd and 4th are almost the same, just like the 6th and 7th. The 2nd in a rich draft has a ton of value, in the top 5 there are players worth of a 1st round selection. Ok, in a poor draft it's the opposite but anyway, maybe the problem is with the position, DB is a complex position, I would be OK with them taking chances from the 3rd round on. Or get a more sure think in the 1st. There's an economic balance in how you manage your roster in the NFL and hitting on players in the 2nd or 3rd round is a big part of it. Bill is a master in roster management but he does that with 2nd or 3rd round selections from other teams. It would be nice to get some production from our own.

Yes, Bill is the first to admit a mistake and surrounds himself with people who will challenge his approach, yet it's arrogance that is his downfall in the second round.

I do have to wonder... why only the second round? Why isn't he foolishly trying to outsmart everyone every other round?

16 more to go . (Wynn still on the roster)

1.Etling
2.Poggi
3.Tye
4.Ferentz
5.Karras/Schwenke
6.Tobin/Croston
7.Harris
8.M.Flowers/Grigsby
9. Sam/Langi (IR)
10. AJ Moore
11. Wiltz
12. Bojorquez
13. Wynn?
14, Grissom?

Then 2 more. If they choose to go 8 OL and 5 LB all Crossen, JC and Keionta could be in on top of JMC..

2017: None
2016: Cyrus Jones
2015: Jordan Richards
2014: Jimmy G
2013: Jamie Collins, Aaron Dobson
2012: Tavon Wilson
2011: Ras-I Dowling, Shane Vereen
2010: Gronk, Jermaine Cunningham, Brandon Spikes

I'm sure there are teams that have done better (remember, though, that the Pats are usually drafting later in the rounds), but that's not terrible. Spikes had some decent years, Gronk is Gronk, Collins is making a fortune elsewhere and showed some special talent, Dobson had a tremendous rookie year, Jimmy G filled his role as expected and
then some, Wilson (and Darius Butler) had decent careers elsewhere.

Also, the Patriots are never top-heavy with talent, so it's much harder for someone to make a contribution coming out of college.

I'd like to see a team-by-team comparison on the round before falling for the psychoanalysis of the coach.

Thinking they hold onto Karras and Croston and send Wynn and Langi to IR. The Bojorquez situation has been puzzling all pre-season. Are they trying to hide him and sneak him onto the Practice Squad? If not, then why didn't they play him in the PS?
