Who are the 4 players who are the epitome of disappointment to you? I am actually just going to rename the whole mountain as Mt Hernandez, just to eliminate the obvious choice for enshrinement here.

Here are the 4 that really made my ass pucker:

Hart Lee Dykes - 1st round bust. All the talent, but injuries and a ten cent head doomed him. Plus, he wasn't around long enough for me to get his jersey. Yes, I was immature (and still am). I wanted a shirt that said Dykes.

Eugene Chung - a 1st round mega bust. I remember my brother telling me the Patriots drafted a stud OL. He was a good brother. ****ty scout.

Chris Canty - what an f'n tool!

Zeke Mowatt - if you don't know why, just Google the 90 Patriots and Lisa Olsen.

Many, many honorable mentions. I'll let others list them.

Chad Jackson worth a mention? He was basically a first round pick. Was pretty solid his rookie year and went downhill from there.

As far as on the field stuff, this is a tough one. There are busts and then there are people who started out so well and then imploded.

Busts Mount RushLess: Hart Lee Dykes, Eugene Chung, Chris Canty and Kenneth Sims.

Imploding Disappointments Mount RushLess: Terry Glenn, Lawrence Maroney, Andy Katzenmoyer and I'll have to think about the 4th. Just guys whose careers started out well and then went into a tailspin of disappointment. Glenn, especially, was looking like a next-level player in his rookie year, like Jerry Rice levels of good and then he just lost his ****.

And then there's the Off The Field guys.

Aaron Hernandez, Dave Meggett, Irving Fryar and Ben Coates.

Fryar, especially, bums me out. From getting stabbed before the super bowl and the drugs ****, turns his life around apparently becomes a solid player for the Dolphins and a religious leader then in prison for fraud. What a disappointment.

BB era only. Too long of a list of we go back to the franchise's inception.

Easley
Chad Jackson
Richards
Adalius Thomas
Ocho Stinko
AH

Oh ya. He was my #5, I think.

Zeke Mowatt being a ****head--->Kraft buying Sullivan/Foxboro Stadium--->Kraft not letting Orthwein out of his stadium lease to move the team to St. Louis--->Kraft buying the team and hiring Parcells--->Kraft getting to know Belichick in '96--->Belichick becoming the coach in '00.

Just saying......

Oh no. Ben Coates? What did he do?

No doubt. The results of that ****storm definitely worked out for the best.

you know what, strike Zeke from Mt Hernandez. I'll add Ras-I Dowling. I still say he was going to be a very good CB had he not been so brittle.

Oh man. Andy Katzenmoyer. I was so stoked for our new all-world LB. He could do it all they said!!

(Who said that? No idea, but I was stoked on him because of something somebody said.)

Trevor Matich. Pete Brock was getting up there in age, so the Pats trade down in the 85 draft to get their center for the next 10 years. Oops. Guy was super soft, ideal for pass-wacky BYU against inferior DTs, but overmatched in the pros.

Of course it looks even worse since their trade partner took Jerry Rice in the Pats original spot.

Regards,
Chris

Katzenmoyer is tough he jacked his neck up. But man I was stoked when we got him.

Maroney
Glenn
Eason
Chad Jackson
Merriweather

No particular order

Would add Edward's for the injury category. Can I give an hono0rary mention for coach? Pete Carrol! Hated that hire from day 1.

Patrick Pass.

Can there be a Mount Rushmore/must have pictures of BB having sex with a goat?

Charlie Weis had some choice words for him.

Conments:

- No Terry Glenn, no '96 Superbowl run.

- Maroney was solid for us for a few seasons. Especially finishing off the Chargers in the '07 season AFC title game.

- Merriweather was decent for one season and even made the Pro Bowl.

Don't think these guys belong on RushLESS....

He was beating on his GF or something.

How do you know? A jury found him not guilty 20 years ago. No allegations before or since.

Meriweather actually made the pro bowl twice in his four seasons here. Once in ‘09 and again in ‘10. He was active in all 64 games. After his rookie year, he had INTs of 4, 5, and 3.

As you said, he probably doesn’t belong on this list. I think he can be seen as a bit of a disappointment due to how he left, but we did receive some value from the pick. There are probably better examples in my opinion.

Chad Jackson worth a mention? He was basically a first round pick. Was pretty solid his rookie year and went downhill from there.

Jackson blew out his knee in the 2006 AFCCG and never fully recovered. On top of a 68% catch rate for 19 targets, 153 yards and 3 regular-season TDs (not bad for a rookie), he also seemed to be developing into a pretty good returner.

A disappointment, but not really Jackson's fault, and certainly not BB's fault in the sense of bad judgement. That was a "sh it happens" thing.

Bethel Johnson, OTOH, was likely drafted as a returner who the Pats thought they could develop into a decent "deep threat receiver (he was really, really fast). Johnson WAS a very good KR for the Pats. He averaged 28 yds/KR (with 1 TD) on 30 returns as a rookie, and then had 25 yds/KR and a TD in his second season (41 KR, 1016 yds).

Johnson DID put up some decent numbers as a WR during his first two seasons (2003-04): 383 yds and 3 TDs in the regular season, 3 catches for 61 yds, including a 41-yd TD in the 2003 playoffs).

However, he never really developed as an adequate route runner and, IIRC, had terrible hands - resulting in a catch rate that never topped 47%. Reportedly, he didn't work very hard on his receiving skills, which was the real disappointment.

What is the need to always post threads that attempt to take away from this incredibly great run???

Guys like Maroney, Katzemoyer, Glenn and Meriweather were decent but for one reason for another they did not last here..

Paxton Lynch (Denver's #1 '16) anyone??
