Schefter: Wynn tore Achilles

Sounds like no matter what, we're going to see some players who probably shouldn't be on an NFL roster making starts on our offensive line. I do not trust Cannon for 16+ games, and Waddle gets banged up fairly often himself.

Matt Tobin? Ulrick John (got hurt last night I think)? **** that.

What you mean cannon isn’t looking good? The guy hasn’t played for a year. It’s likely rust who knows. Not being 100 percent.

The guy hasn't been practicing for the last two weeks, and they'd suddenly switched Wynn from backing up Brown at LT to backing up Waddle at RT. Could just be seeing what the kid has, but also could be a sign that Cannon isn't progressing back as quickly as they'd hoped. Either way, until Cannon is back on the field, we don't even know how he's progressing with last year's injury, because we're not seeing him play at all.

He had a torn labrum last year which is extremely common & a very low risk. He never had a track record.

Sony was a gamble bc he just screams Patriot-Type Player. Probably not the guy I would've chosen but again we thought it was worth it.

Michel still concerns me. I wouldn’t bring him back so quickly.

At least, if nothing else, he will have a good 55 weeks to be ready for the start of next season.

I think people misunderstand what he meant by Cannon not looking good. I think this is about Cannon not looking good to be healthy in time.

Thank you, that is what I meant. I should have been clearer.

Oh, come on! Does Derrius Grice mean anything?

Yeah it means both players suffered season ending injuries on our turf. Bring back the grass! - not because I firmly believe the turf is the culprit but just because I prefer natural grass fields.

Surprised it’s taken people that long to realize that. Kirwan and Miller have him as a weekly spot on their (outstanding) show for good reason.
It just blows my mind how someone can properly diagnose an injury from the couch.

Yeah they whiffed it, absolutely. Just saying I think that they whiffed the character concerns more than the medicals.
Maybe. He was out all of last year so who knows.

Such an innocuous looking play, just one minor false step, similar to Dion‘s ACL tear. I was holding out hope for a foot injury with the return later in the season from IR, in part because he didn’t go down like he was taken out by a sniper, which is usually the case with achilles tears. He seem to take two or three steps before he realized he was injured. Losing his versatility is painful. If Cannon can get healthy and stay healthy, they should be fine but that is no sure thing.

I am now going to go back to my happy place, where I believe that Bentley is the real deal and the front seven is going to be much improved, so that for the first time in over a decade opposing quarterbacks are not going to have unlimited time to pick out open receivers and for once the defense will be able to get off the field on a critical third down. Oh, yeah, and Richards gets cut but does well in his post football life (seems like a genuinely decent guy, he’s just a genuinely terrible NFL safely). Thank you, baby Jesus.

To be fair Chao has extensive experience up close. At some point you kinda know what to look for because you have seen it all many times over.
True.

After all, Ive been watching Patriots games for 35 years. When it comes to playcalling, I'm always right

Wynn has no injury history

Played 11 games in '14 as a true freshmen (Georgia played 13)
Played in 25 out of 26 games in '15 and '16, made 23 straight starts before missing a game with injury (Georgia played 26 games in those 2 years)
Played 15 out of 15 games in '17
If anything, this makes me more encouraged.

This isn’t 1988. Players recover from torn ACLs. He’s overall been a very promising player, so I still have high hopes that he’ll be an impact player for us in the long run.
