That wasn’t a tough call. Glad they did it now rather than having it linger on.

That’s disappointing, but we have plenty of veteran options.

I would suspect that his career is just about over then. Those knees are shot. Poor guy had a chance to really be an effective WR. I’d still say the pick was a success, all in all. Not a home run, but given how clutch he was in 51 and the spot he was drafted in, it was a good use of the pick. Wish we could have gotten more out of him but it is what it is. I wish him luck in his continued rehab and whatever life holds for him after New England and thank him for coming through when the team needed him to.

Just a shame his body couldn't come through for him here.

At least he has the ultimate experience....being a key part of winning a Super Bowl.

Seems like a quality person. Hope he has all the success in the world with his other life passions.

Absolutely gutted. The guy was unreal in 51, and was good for us whenever he was on the field. I really loved watching Malcom go about his business in the manner he did. I hope there's a way he can continue to make a nice income for himself in the future with his books.

Will always love him for the Catches and TD's he scored just so sad he wasn't able to have the NFL Career he deserved

When he was healthy..

Good thing that he did not let go of the ball completely right after the catch before being touched. How much would it suck to have that to be your last play of your career?

Just for confirmation

I think the need to do the "waived/injured -> IR" thing first, don't they? Then release him with a settlement?

The Pats cut Malcolm Mitchell today.

I wish it would have worked out for him but it wasn't to be.

Thanks Malcolm. You were money in the 2nd half of Super Bowl 51 and a big reason we have #5. Good luck in all you do.

I forget, was he a 2nd round WR pick?

You can have all the talent in the world but if you aren’t tough or durable it doesn’t matter at all. He helped us win a Super Bowl, so I’ll define his career here as a success too.

Poor kid. Would love to see him land somewhere and have a productive career but if he cant get healthy after not playing in well over a year I doubt that will be the case. Seems like a bright kid, hopefully the kids books things take off.
