Decker, LaFell...

Who in the world says potahto?

Slim pickings out there - Lafell, Decker or Bryant. All of them have issues.

All three are totally different types of WR. It all depends on how close Britt is and the evaluation of McCarro, Dorsett and CP.

But the one that in terms of skillset makes most sense to me is Decker. Hr has experience with option routes and can provide a physical inside presence. He might be similarly cooked as LaFell but at least appears more surehanded than him. Although I did not check any stats on that.

He wanted to leave. Cincy fulfilled the request.
Because he realized that he was 7th at best on their depth chart and, barring multiple injuries at the position, wasn't going to make the 53.

Decker would be a good option. I am also intrigued with bringing in Jeremy Maclin.

Well hope he has a lot in the tank and his hip’s ok.

He will be a WR3 or 4 at best. Dont expect too much as he might be gone at the end of camp in favor of a younger player.

Jeremy Maclin is another option...not sure why he isn’t signed.

Maclin turned 30 in May
Decker turned 31 in March
Dez turns 30 on November 4th
LaFell turns 32 on November 4th (coinkydink).

It seems to me that there are a lot of pretty good (and much cheaper) 22, 23 & 24-year-old WRs available lately. It may seem premature for Maclin et al, but I think they're injury-rolodex guys at the moment.

He had a good game against us in the playoffs. I think he has a lot left.

He was their 2nd best receiving option last year. He was going to make the 53.

Decker and Lafell have similar career production. They had similar production last year. Decker was hurt 2 years ago so Lafell has the better 2 year window.

Lafell gets the benefit of having worked with Tom before.

I don't think we need either I think we have better options in house right now. But we can't have more injuries and Britt needs to come back soon.

Dont get me wrong I think we could use another WR I just don't think these 2 are better than what we have.
I don’t think their career numbers are all that similar.
Lafell has played 8 more games (119-111)
and Decker has over 10% more catches (439-394) yards (5816-5263) and way more TDs (53-29)

Bengals coach Marvin Lewis had hinted this offseason that the 31-year-old LaFell was no lock to make the roster, and LaFell may have figured that he’s better off getting a jump on finding a new team now, rather than waiting and getting cut a month from now.

Bengals cut Brandon LaFell

Bengals coach Marvin Lewis told reporters last week LaFell "feels the heat" from the other receivers in cap and that the team "could only keep so many" of them.

Bengals to release WR Brandon LaFell, agent says

Bengals coach Marvin Lewis discussed the receivers last week and, unprompted, noted LaFell was "feeling the heat." Young players like Tyler Boyd and Josh Malone are having an impressive camp and last year's first-round pick, John Ross, is finally healthy.

"That's a competitive group of wide receivers. So we can only keep so many of them," Lewis said last week.

Adding LaFell makes a lot of sense. He is old, but he gets the offense and should be a cheap addition.
