NFL Rumors: Tom Brady Was Devastated, Angry With Robert Kraft Over Deflategate

Kraft’s star quarterback Tom Brady watched the news conference along with millions of others on television. He was devastated and angry. Brady grabbed his cell phone and punched in the contact number for DeMaurice Smith, executive director of the National Football League Players Association. “What the f—?” Brady shouted over the phone.“Why am I not getting the support I deserve on this thing?”

If true...IF....then I don't blame him one bit for being pissed-off at Bendover Bobby for, well, bending over, again.
The book sounds like it’s an inside look at Brady’s entire season. I don’t blame him either. But, like the professional he is, Brady moved on.

Not surprised he felt screwed. That being said if there really was a "backdoor deal" between Kraft and Goodell about being lenient on Brady (which never came into existance anyway) based on Kraft bowing down I am surprised Kraft didn't tell TB in advance.

The entire press conference where Kraft just bowed down was weird back then and keeps on being weird now with added information.

I vaguely remember we already knew this ... when it happened.
I don’t remember that. The Kraft apologists were pointing to their relationship and saying “BUT BRADY STIL LIEKS HIM LOL.”

Wasn't Kraft also later furious with himself for having done that and having been so stupid to think that bowing down to RG would help his QB?

I'm no super duper Robert Kraft defender, but in hindsight everyone, including him, knows it was a screw-up, and everyone other than him knew it was a screw-up RIGHT THEN.

But wasn't that around the height of Robert and Roger's Bromance?? Nothing was going to get in the way of love not even the GOAT QB.

I wonder if there will be any other new information in this book...will it be worth a read?

I think Kraft just used that as an excuse. He and Roger were very tight before then. There are numerous examples of that.

Something I've been wondering about in terms of Kraft's thinking was one of his comments in "The Two Bills" 30 for 30. It was related to Parcells going to the Jets and Kraft's belief that league office was facilitating the deal. Kraft said something like "Even then, they (NFL headquarters) were trying to help the New York teams."

I've been wondering if he looked at the events over the last 20 years and came to that realization recently or if he believed that in 1997. If Kraft was suspicious of the league office heading into deflategate, then his belief that his team would be treated fairly in that situation looks even worse. From my biased view, even if Kraft hadn't connected the dots at that point, he had to be incredibly naive to think that Goodell was going to go easy on Brady.

I understand Brady being pissed, I would have been too.

But in retrospect, I don't think there's a hell of a lot Kraft could have done to alleviate the situation.

The league decided the verdict before it even began, they knew where they wanted to end up (Brady and/or BB suspended) and aside from Kraft closing up shop (ending the franchise) I don't think there is anything that could have been done to avoid that suspension.

Not really a Kraft apologist but I do think the entire situation was above even his head.

Look, i know plenty of people want to add up stuff for people... Kraft did build this team (even if his actions were mostly "inaction" by letting BB do his thang) and does look after the fanbase (in general) and care about most players.

But he is Billionaire Boy Club participant all the way. He will not risk his status and fortune among his 0.01% Peers for anyone, not even Brady, even if the real facts would require confrontantion.

What is sum of all this? It depends on you, I guess. Would explain why Kraft seems to be having Brady's interest in the front of Bill's in recent year. Guilty conscience is a *****. I hope he retires soon enough

I have also suspected that, but I really think that Kraft is a pretty poor actor and is not that hard of a read. I think he was a schmuck at the time, later realized it, and is perhaps forever torn between 1) resentment for Goodell about fundamental unfairness and
2) gratitude for Goodell for helping his franchise gain and maintain a valuation in the billions of dollars.

What font identify as is my choice, I should not be judged... This board needs sensitivity training...
I'm a blatant font-ist.

Just try posting some comic sans and we will strike you down.

LOL, how in God’s name did Goodell help maintain the valuation of the franchise?
