The aspect of Dorsett's game that I liked best last year was his blocking. Seriously. He blocked DBs and even LBs on the second level on run plays, in addition to blocking downfield on passes that other guys caught. He blocks with good positioning, technique and timing. And he's not quite as aggressive as Edelman or DA, but he's certainly not shy about it. It's probably why he was on the field for so many snaps, even though he wasn't targeted often.

Of course, he wasn't pancaking anybody - just delaying them for a step or two. That's often all it takes to make a play successful.

If Dorsett can catch around 35 of 50 targets for 450 yds and 3-5 TDs this season, he'll be a worthy #3/#4 WR.

I think he's capable of more than that.

I have missed the aspect of blocking by Dorsett but If you say so I believe it is his advantage.Yeah, about 500 yards would be fair enough for me treating him as a backup WR.

We broke down film last season that demonstrated his blocking ability. It's very good.

He fumbled yesterday too, so it’s a bit of a worry. He’ll end up in Bill’s doghouse real quick.
Oh, really? Didn’t realize that he fumbled yesterday, too. That would be twice in the first three practices, so that is mildly concerning. Let’s hope they are able to nip that in the bud. We could use some actual production from a first round pick, which has been rare since 2012, at least for guys not named Brown.

The doghouse threshold seems to be less strict for runners who can contribute in the passing game.
Sure, but you’ve gotta figure that White and Burkhead are going to take the bulk of the reps in those situations. Not only would they be more comfortable with both the offense and atmosphere in game day situations, but they would also be better at pass protection against NFL competition.

I wouldn’t expect Michel to make much of an impact in the passing game, at least for a little while, and even then, he’s certainly not going to be the second coming of Kevin Faulk. If he puts the ball on the ground, it’s likely going to set him back for his entire rookie season. At any rate, it’s way too early to panic, but our RBBC system is deep enough to where Michel could get lost pretty easily if he happens to fumble a couple of times in game day situations.

The most productive slot guy in the NFL for three years (his first 3 years in the NFL) is nominal?
That was mistake with using the word "nominal". I meant typical, using mostly as a slot WR.

Etling’s mechanics/release are honestly pretty good. Definitely better than Hoyer/Brissett/Mallett. Won’t matter if he can’t play the position but definitely noticeable.

I thought that on Friday, but do not have enough knowledge to have commented on his "mechanics"... his throwing motion looks very "Bradyesque".. First on, last off is a good sign.. .not getting many reps is not a great sign.

If Wynn's good enough to start at IOL, you play him at LG, because Mason is better than Thuney, and because you want to keep Wynn on the left side, if possible. This isn't rocket science.

And pointing to one play in the Super Bowl to decide Thuney v. Mason, rather than looking at their play over the entire season, is silly.

This is a nice "problem" to have. Mason, Thuney and Wynn is excellent depth and versatility. The interior line is solid with Andrews at C and Karras/Ferentz fighting for a roster spot.

Tackle is the primary issue. Wynn looks undersized for NFL LT duty. He's got the quickness for running plays, but the bigger stronger DEs will manhandle him. If Brown can be consistent and stay healthy, that might be work out. Scar is tough on these guys. We'll see how Brown takes to his new coach. Cannon is a proven RT. It would be nice if Croston would take a step forward this year. He and Waddle should be compete for snaps.

I don't think that Wynn is "undersized". He's just short. On the LoS, "low man wins the leverage battle", so being short could easily be turned to Wynn's advantage. He's also coming into the league with hand technique and footwork that's already developed beyond that of many veteran NFL tackles.

In spite of the fact that Wise DID seem to manhandle him on the first rep yesterday, under Scar's tutelage and with the likelihood that he'll bulk up at least a bit in a pro-level strength and conditioning program, I don't see Wynn getting "manhandled" much in the future.

What's so tough to figure out about this team?
Offensive line, especially at LT & Backups

WR: which newcomers will Brady use, and which will he ignore

Defensive Tackle

Defensive End after Tre Flowers

Linebacker after Hightower & Van Noy

Cornerback after Gilmore

Safety: when do Chung & DMac begin a more precipitous decline

Punter: when will Brian Allen finally get the Zoltan Mesko treatment

Most of that is either fairly easy given the current roster, or irrelevant.
