I saw at least three Butler related posts in other threads, seemed like the right time to bump it so we could see SBB talk down at us from his high horse while completely dismissing everything said regardless of the validity, because his "source" is totes legit.
Didn’t mean to call you out specifically, chasa. I was just speaking to the fact that there’s always someone who wants to rehash the Butler situation. I think the mention of him in the other thread helped to bring this one back to life. It’s certainly a controversial topic, so I expect it to pop back up from time to time.

As far as who is right/wrong, I’m not sure if we’ll ever know the entire story. The fact is that Belichick almost certainly made a huge mistake, even if there was some justification for his decision. I do think the failure to stop the run (164 yards) was a much bigger factor, but I certainly believe that Butler’s presence would have helped. Would it have been “the” difference maker that most believe it would’ve been? I’m not as sure in that regard. We’ll never know.

I don't talk down to everyone. Just the asshats that suggest BB did it for some tyrannical reason or to stroke his ego.
BB reacted to whatever Butler did maybe it was missing his second team flight or maybe it was the story I heard but I will be firm in my opinion Butler is to blame for Butler not playing not BB. If that comes off as me on a high horse so be it Bill has earned that from me and more importantly his players.

And I will be Firm in my opinion that benching Butler for the entire game was the biggest mistake of BB's career. That anything short of Butler physically assaulting a staff member, should not have resulted in him seeing zero snaps in the biggest game of the year. And that By holding out his most experienced CB, he essentially threw the game.

Hopefully someday we find out the truth, until that day I hope you enjoy life, seeing things through BB blinders, where he can do no wrong, and his pick and choose style of when to punish players, and his erratic punishment choices, are faultless, even as they cause massive issues with the team.

A strong verbal attack falls under the definition of assault. But I digress.

Then why didn't brady miss anytime after assualting McDaniels and O'Brien?

Aren’t you putting on Butler blinders?
Why would Belichick make such a drastic move for no reason?

Since you are not privy to what goes on behind the scenes it’s no surprise that you find inconsistency in punishing players because you don’t know the facts.

The reality is that this organization is built upon the concept that internal issues stay internal.
I’m sure it would make you feel much better if Belichick gotbun front of a podium and described his rationale for every decision, thereby throwing the players under the bus by publicly airing every misdeed (if you say he had to do it once, then he has to do it every time) but that doesn’t make the team better. Your right to know doesn’t even register on the scale of importance in handling team a d discipline issues.

Please elaborate on the massive issues that have been caused on the team that has been to the afccg or further 7 straight years.

I totally agree with this. I’m still sick over what happened & believe that BB’s ego cost him his 5th Super Bowl. I’m reluctant to get emotionally invested in the team again, knowing that a similar thing could happen again this year.

You know you're right those two things are exactly the same.

Your basically saying I don't know what happened but I stand firm in my opinion it was his fault.

May you never find yourself on the jury of an important case.

At which point I will be given evidence and arguments and I'm pretty sure the prosecutions isn't going to have a witness go on the stand and say "I heard from a guy, that the defendant definitely did SOMETHING, but I won't tell you who said it"

Who cut-and-pasted pages 56-59 to the end of this thread?

Regards,
Chris

You guys still butt hurt about the Lawyer Milloy decision too?

Did BB bench Lawyer for the entirety superbowl just before kickoff?

I must have missed that.
Nope he booted him from the team completely for the entirety of the season just before the season started.

Definitely the same thing. Cutting a player over a contract dispute before the season starts is right up their with benching a key player just before kick off of the superbowl. I can see how you would equate the two with those vision impairing goggles you are wearing. I'm not sure why you are defending your boyfriend so much here.

Season can’t get here fast enough. They will battle against some history. Really tough getting back to the super bowl after losing it. Hasn’t been done since the 90s buffalo bills i believe.

If you think this is going away once the season starts you are crazy.

people STILL bring up the Tyree catch, Butler getting Zero snaps is going to be one of those topics that people are going to occasionally bring up because its just a mind **** of a call.

Don't even get me started on whats going to happened when the titans and the patriots play in November and then again come January divisional round.

It’s still hard to defend what happened. It’s one of the most mind boggling decisions in super bowl history. Unless he assaulted BB you play the guy. The secondary’s still a big question mark this coming season as well. Not much a fan of jason mccourty
