Has anybody else stopped reading MMQB since Peter King left?

Has anybody stopped watching SNL since Martin Short left?

I forget exactly when I stopped watching SNL but it was many moons ago. It was right around the time that the show got boring. Like so many other things in this world, they don't make 'em like they used to.

You knew that? Out-freaking-standing! How about the Goon claiming he was an NFL intern AFTER he graduated from Washington&Jefferson? IMPOSSIBLE by the NFL's own established criteria that only allows undergraduates to be hired? Did you know THAT? How about the talking piece of fecal matterdell boasting he graduated magna cum laude in business? Never knew that "magna" meant C student at W&J, a LIBERAL ARTS college by the way, where the rich stash their below stupid offspring. The list of Goodell's serial lying goes on and on from way before he was greased into the commissioner's job by Rooney and Mara. Today, he's a complete laughingstock. I mean is there anyone who believes a word that comes out of this shytbird's mouth?

Once a Jete always a Jete.

I enjoy the 10am games when they are from London (I'm in the Atlantic time zone), it would take some getting used to watching games every week at 10am.
Yeah, for several years I was a Patriots fan with crappy tv service on the US West coast . I'd wake up early and go to the casino so I could watch the games.

I stopped reading when he started talking about beer, coffee, and his personal politics, as if anyone cares what a sportswriters politics are.

I never minded a little bit of non-football in there, but as more and more crept in, I read less. He's a pretty good writer/entertainer though.

Sportswriters are like actors, musicians and other artists. They should just concentrate on their craft, and leave their opinions at home.

I've never really understood this sentiment. Why are artists not allowed to share share their opinion? Whenever people say this, I always think people are jealous because a celeb has a bigger soapbox to stand on than them or something. If the average person is allowed to speak their opinions publicly, why would the same person think a celeb should not have the same right?

He also tucked it away at the end of his column for the most part. It was part 10 of his 'I think I think' section, along with the beer and coffee discussion. It was very avoidable and people who stopped reading him based on that (as opposed to his vanilla analysis and principle compromising to retain insider access) are just looking for something to get riled up about.

Well hes still married, so he gets to go to flea markets and such after hes a good lapdog and gets his honey do list sufficiently half ass completed to not be interrupted with incessant *****ing on Sunday.

And today's winner for the 'out of left field' award goes to...

I haven't read Peter Queen of All Media in over 10 years, same with Bert the Screw York Lover Breer. LOL at those who have.

True, dat. I got spoiled by the original lineup, so when they all left at the end of the 70's, and were replaced by wretched refuse, it was apocalyptic.

They had a nice little Renaissance for a few years, there, in the 80's, with Eddie Murphy and Joe Piscopo, but if Murphy wasn't in the skit, it usually sucked.

I haven't watched an episode since then. Every once in a while, some guy'll emerge in the movies ~ Farley, Myers, Sadler, et cetera ~ who exhibit a few scraps of talent, or somebody'll link some skit from the show...but the skits, to these eyes, are usually just stupid, not funny, and none'f those guys are of the ilk of the original crew.

Kinda like the Roman Empire after the 5th Century, really ~ or the 4th Crusade, if you like: A sudden, cataclysmic collapse, followed by a partial recovery...then a slow, inexorable decline towards eventual oblivion. But I guess that analogy's obvious.

The SNL lineup during the late '80s/early '90s was really good.

Yeah, I was out there for a couple years and one football season, myself. It sure was weird, getting up shortly after the crack of dawn to watch Berman and Jackson ~ this is before they sucked, obviously...or before I realized that they sucked!! ~ and having the opening kickoffs at 1000!! I'll tell ya...There were times when it took every ounce of character I had in me to force down those first few beers at that hour.

But we all gotta do our part for the team.

Great work!!

I would add ~ and this gives me no pleasure, but must be done ~ Trey Parker and Matthew Stone. For those unaware: They are the brilliant revolutionaries who made the world a far better place by creating South Park...And they are also gutless, villainous scum. No death could befall them so excruciatingly unspeakable that I wouldn't celebrate it with cackling glee. They are verminous, pestilential scum.

Yeah? Many would agree with you, I think. Dana Carvey, I like. David Spade. Phil Hartman. Michael Myers and Adam Sandler irritate me, but've produced some good comedy.

I'm sure I'm missing some guys. Farley? Meh.

Because of the Belichick episode? Or something more sinister?

I'm sure I'm missing some guys. Farley? Meh.

Farley was a comedy genius. Maybe not your brand of humor but I’ve read a ton of stories from SNL cast members saying he was the funniest guy they ever worked with.

It's funny how I don't remember exactly what many on that list said or did to be there, but I know that they all belong.

I know exactly what you mean.

My memory is for shytte. I am certain that I'm descended from goldfish on both sides of my family. But my judgment of people...is immaculate. Consequently, there are people who're dead to me...but who's transgressions I'ave forgotten!!

Most'f my role models are in A Christmas Carol...But I also take some guidance from the magnificent Jane Austen, and one such instance of that is the philosophy of my man FitzWilliam Darcy: "My good opinion once lost, is lost forever."

I don't hasten to judgement, and neither do I judge harshly acts of foolishness...But acts of dishonor I judge harshly, indeed, and augur no merit in forgiving them.

There've been a number of slimy insinuations. The Belichick episode that you mention was one, and some pathetic attempt at smack at Brady's expense, tied in with Tebow...But there was an episode about Brady that enrages me even to think about.

If you google South Park Tom Brady, you'll see plenty.

They are scum. I am not joking.

* Edit. Looks like they've been keeping at it. The episode in particular that persuaded me, along with their general descent in quality, that I'd had my fill of South Park several years ago, involved some kind of protein shake or something of that ilk.

Yeah? Fair enough. Haven't liked what I've seen, but I haven't seen it all.

I know which one you’re talking about. To be fair, they crushed Pink Head in that one too.

Not the worst that could happen. Let's just say "on line dating" is gold if you can hold a conversation and follow your cues. Emojis are your friend if you want to land mildly mentally disabled 20 year olds. If you do this correctly, you dont even buy her dinner and she never gets your number. Perfect.

Yep. That was random and context-challenged enough to be disturbing!!

Thanks for the tips!!

Seriously, though ~ leaving aside the horrific way that you allegedly manipulate women ~ those who suddenly launch into unprompted and unprovoked allegations of their numerous "conquests" for no particular reason...tend to be full'f shytte.

Who's "Pink Head"? Manning?

I like to think that I've got a pretty twisted and broad sense of humor, and if people want to hate on the Patriots, they're entitled to waste their lives...But Tom Brady I see as a venerable guy far above and beyond what he does on the field.

If you want to cut'm some slack, that's your call to make, and I have tremendous respect for your opinion. My take on Stone and Parker is that they're enraged at our success, aren't man enough to simply admire it, and have whored out South Park in order to pathetically lash out at their bettors. Portraying Tom Brady as a Goo Guzzler?

Not that there's anything wrong with that, per se.

In fact, some'f the best people I know...Oh. Sorry. Don't wanna get all "woolster", here.

But they obviously portrayed it in a spectacularly pejorative way.

The fact that they're pathetic and that they're clearly boiling in misery and jealous, impotent rage ~ which pleases me greatly ~ is beside the point.

They are scum.

But that's just my take. I move on.
