Interesting that he was in talks with joining the Pats last year but chose to go to the Titans. He's familiar with McDaniels offense so it would be an easy transition. I've always liked Decker as a player but his TV show and wife have kind of put some people off.

What do you think? Sign the beast?

Free agent WR Eric Decker believes he'd be good fit in New England

563 yards last year with Mariota throwing him the ball. He could be productive with Brady. If he comes in for cheap, I’d be curious to see what he has left. If he’s truly cooked, cut him.

BB has a history of signing players who have given us a lot of trouble over the years. Wouldn't be surprised to see him signed after week 1. He always had a knack for finding the holes in our D.

I'd be okay with it for the right price. Overall he has managed to be healthy most of his career. He is a big target at 6'3 206lbs and plays a physical which i think translates into the cold of the playoffs. He spent a lot of time in Denver and NY/NJ so he is use to playing in cold conditions.

My only issue with signing him would be it would likely be just a 1 and done contract and I do think it be nice to sign WRs who Brady can play together with for the next 2-3 years.

Losing Amendola means the Pats lost a guy who was on the same page as Brady. It be nice to get a WR who can be here for a few years to do the same.

Interesting. One of the things I pay a lot of attention to is how fans perceive things. Like the old Matt light struggles with freeney and Taylor when in fact the had a much lower sack rate vs him than overall.
So this one made me curious and at first I thought it was true and the answer is very interesting.

Decker has 7 games vs the patriots. In those he had 47 or less receiving yards 5 times and averaged less than 40

His career averages per game are
6.4 targets
4 catches
62% catch rate
52.4 yards (13.3 per catch)
.5 tds.

Vs patriots
6.1 targets
3 catches
49% catch rate
39.3 yards (13.1 per catch)
.3 TDS

So in every category Decker was worse against the pats than everyone else.

He had some terrible drops last year. So hopefully he would fix that.

Seems like a good fit from my narrow fan’s view perspective, though I’m lacking about 98% of the insight the Patriots have about Decker, along with 31 other teams that haven’t signed him yet.

he would have been a good fit 5 or 6 years ago when he still played at an nfl level.

Commodore Decker is a little too reckless and too focused on that doomsday machine

Do we need another aging veteran ? I'd like to see some youngsters get a shot at WR,TE,OL,DL,DB........and of course Sony at RB :D

Cause what the Pats really need is to tie up yet another roster slot at the WR position

I didn't know that. Thanks for pointing it out. It just felt like he got the upper hand every time he played us.
