Hope Johnson wins just to see what Paulina will be wearing.

These so-called "American" announcers are such dyamed feces eating america haters it's making me want to puke. They just can't wait to see DJ falter so they blab all frickin' afternoon about the immortal Justin Rose. I'd like to bury a 9 iron in their big mouths...azzoles

Wasn't he hanging out with Brady the other day? Maybe it's more of that insidious Gisele juju sapping his testosterone.

Never seen anything like it.

I agree Phil never meant to disrespect the game. If he didn't stop that it would still be rolling.

Leader is +1 right now. Lol

I didn't care much for his explanation. If you lose your cool, admit it like a man, apologize, and move on. Don't act like a Jete and make a stupid excuse. Now he's gonna deal with feedback forever, and he will deserve it.

Leon Lett would be proud.

It's actually interesting what might happen here. Feels like he exposed this tournament and this golf course and for that reason it's surprising they haven't DQ'ed him.

If he's not DQ'ed what's stopping other players from doing the same thing, accepting a 2 stroke penalty for a much easier putt instead of a 6 putt or worse. Especially on this course. Kind of like the whole argument around the NFL and DPI being a spot foul or 15 yards. If the latter then it's a no brainer that if you're beaten commit DPI and take the 15 yarder instead of a long completion...

How is that not a penalty? Thus, he signs an incorrect scorecard and is DQ'ed. Oh well, Eddie Haskell escapes again.

It WAS a penalty, two strokes, and he knew it. He signed the scorecard with the penalty applied.

Why is he of all people announcing golf?

Annoying ***clown.
I say that about anyone even watching golf. A perfect match.

Meh. I think folks are overreacting to this.

Remembering how Phil in his prime had Tiger Woods as an obstacle.

Time flies ........

He did it out of anger, not out of strategy. What stops other players from doing it is that even if we set aside the anger and sportsmanship issue, from a pure standpoint of gameplay, it is just not a smart move for a professional. It is ridiculous to think a pro would do better with one stroke of a ball in motion (plus 2 stroke penalty) than he would with letting it roll off the green and having 3 strokes to do just as well.

Exception is potentially in the rare instance I saw once where the ball was headed into the drink very slowly so the guy considered (but ultimately decided not to) hit the ball in motion to take 2-strokes instead of 1 stroke.

I sort of agree, until his reaction. It seems worse (in this particular "gentlemen's sport", anyway) to intentionally & thoughtfully break a rule (with no qualms about it) then it is to have a lapse in judgement / hothead moment.

I don't think he is telling the truth about why he did it. It really was a a lapse in judgement / hothead moment, according to his playing partner, who said that they did not know what the penalty would be, even.

ESPN is calling on him to withdraw. I would not go that far. I think 2 strokes and bad pub is deserved.
