Your words are your words. Your lousy arguments are your lousy arguments. Your silly concerns are your silly concerns. Your personal attacks against me are your personal attacks against me.

For you to try claiming that you didn't "say anything like what you're claiming", when I posted exactly what you wrote, is very dishonest of you. But you keep being ridiculous on the subject, if you think clowning yourself is working for you.

My words don't say what you're claiming they're saying. That's the point. But you knew that.

By the way,

Julio Jones isn't attending OTAs.
Aaron Donald isn't attending OTAs
Le'Veon Bell isn't attending OTAs

I don't care about those other guys. I wish all the stars of other teams would skip OTAs and other opportunities to help their teams get better.

Of course, none of those guys has remotely the same kind of influence on their teams as Brady does for the Patriots. Apples and oranges. But you knew that.

They do say what I'm claiming they're saying. That's why I posted them. For example, you wrote:

It's not at all unimportant or insignificant for Brady to miss this part of OTAs. It probably won't sink their season, but it's a reasonably big deal.

Obviously, if you say that it "probably" won't sink their season, you are also saying that, while you consider it improbable, you think that it might sink their season.

To say that, for example, Donald doesn't have "remotely the same kind of influence" is just ludicrous on your part. You keep needlessly posting silly things while trying to be serious. Stop doing that.

Hoyer can run the receivers through the plays while participating in a few underwear drills in May.

I do and I don't.

99% of his teammates are there. Most of them have families.

100% of the coaches and staff are there. Most of them also have families.

For whatever reason, Tom is staying away because he has chosen to not buy 100% into the culture of his team which at this time are those employees chosing to be at work and not with their families.

However his union has negotiated his right to stay away and he is taking advantage of it.

His absence doesn't make him right or wrong but it absolutely means he is not in 100% compliance with the culture. He's complying with his own culture.

Wish this post was sticky on top of the thread.

Could any of you who subscribe to Bedard’s site give the gist of his piece about this? And is it just opinion or does there seem to be any sourcing behind whatever he says? Thanks!

So, tell me, what are they doing this time around that Brady hasn’t been a part of before? Be specific.
So, tell me, why Brady has spoken often about the importance of OTA's?? And tell me why this year there is no importance to these OTA's for a soon to be 41 year old Brady who has lots of new receiver teammates to get to know??
Why is it so hard to you to admit that Brady is being a selfish it's all about me b!tch here??

What is amazing is how you can claim to be a fan of the team with the greatest qb of all time who has made your team more successful than any other in history and you waste your time *****ing about him on a message board. What in the world would lead you to hate the guy who made your favorite team the greatest dynasty ever?

What is amazing is that you feel like you can tell other people what it means for them to be a fan of a team. Stop telling people how to live their lives.

I’ve answered this probably north of five times already.

Where did the poster even remotely imply that he is "hating" Brady ?

Any post that uses that stupid "greatest QB of all time" line to somehow invalidate people having critical thoughts of Brady is just laughable. TB stressed for about 15 years how important every phase in the offseason is and how every rep is essential. Anyone who is not questioning what is going on with him and his shift of priorities over the last 12 months is just ignoring the obvious thing that is unfolding.

Similarly we got spoon fed the stories about how he always wanted to be coached hard. not being treated any differently and be a locker room leader for well over a decade now. Where has that guy gone ? Was he ever really there ? Or was all of that easier to take when it all aligned with his personal goals ?

None of the criticism that he is rightfully receiving for his decision to stay away from OTAs in light of his remarks in the past mean that people "hate him". You can be a fan of what he has achieved but at the same time wonder where all of this is going.

He just lays out the role that Brady, Belichick , and Kraft have played in creating this mess and how Brady has really appeared to change in his approach to football this season.

Also, 31 starting QBs took the field during OTAs, guess which one isn't.

The OTAs are going to vary in importance depending on who you are.

Reasons the OTAs are important:

New faces and rookies -

  • Get acclimated to how the Patriots run their workouts.
  • Get acclimated to Belichick's coaching style.
  • Get acclimated to the coaching styles of their various coordinators.

Guys that have been in the system for years -
  • Players coming off of injury: getting back on the practice field and start training early.
  • Outside of that, nothing of note that they can't get in MC or TC.

That's basically all there is to it. Brady is 41. Brady has been in the system for 18 years. Brady is coming off of two long seasons, the most recent of which saw him absorb an inordinate amount of hits. The new receivers are not missing anything not having Brady there. There are no pads. There is no contact. The pitch and catch sessions can take place with Hoyer as the QB as the new guys learn the routes. The majority of the playbook will not be installed in May. The majority of the playbook gets installed in MC and, particularly, TC. Those two events will be the first time the players wear shells or are fully padded. Those two events will be the events in which the timing really gets down between quarterback and receivers.

So those of you getting bent out of shape about this are getting bent out of shape just for the sake of doing so. Moreover, all of you have very good company. ESPN and the local media having a field day with this. That's great company to be in. Congratulations.

Conveniently left out the part where players build chemistry with each other and the receivers practice catching balls and running routes like Brady likes, along with building Brady's trust.

You don't think Dorsett is wishing Brady was at OTAs so he could impress him? What a joke.

They get that in MC and TC... with shells, full pads, contact, and contested throws.

Le'Veon Bell missed all the offseason stuff last year, showing up just a week before the team's first game. Bell finished the season with 1946 combined yards. The Steelers finished 13-3. He's skipping the OTAs this year, too.
Has Le'Veon Bell been telling everyone for years how important OTA's are?? Nope!!
Brady been saying it??? Yup!!
Carry on......

You expected him to say to the media that it's really unimportant for a guy that's his age and has been in the system for as long as he has? It's a bold strategy, Cotton.

The man that many of you worship in the local media...

This thread is going to be such great fun to bump during the season.

Kontra, it is time to move on. Brady should be dead to you by now. I already bought my Danny Etling No. N/A jersey. He is going to be magical.

With Hoyer and Etling, looks like it's gonna be a two-on-one, a ménage à trois of pain.:)

The poster had ripped Brady for years.
