Blame millennials, the scourge of America. Fantasy football + smartphones + light beer = increased demand for stadium lounges = fewer seats for dedicated fans who actually want to watch the games. Sometime in the future, Gillette Stadium will resemble one giant lounge surrounded by 16 jumbotrons to which games are simultaneously telecast from remote locales. Victories will be measured in fantasy points, as fantasy point systems will be devised for each position including linemen, although offensive linemen will be considered more valuable than even linebackers or defensive backs. Game scores will be in the 80-70 range; any game with fewer than 20 touchdowns will be considered a "defensive struggle." Club seat owners will enjoy admittance to the team owner's hip-hop parties on game day, where they can pay a premium fee to mingle with celebrity guests and drink more light beer while sexy female "cheerleaders" give them individual fantasy point updates every 10 minutes. Also in this era, team coaching staffs and defensive players will be hired and fired by committees of offensive players headed by the quarterback and his top two wide receivers.
Okay, Chris Stevenson. I could completely take a **** on the baby boomers right now, but that would send the thread down the ol’ political path.

You know jack about baby boomers. You're the guy who thinks they eat nachos, for crap sakes. And you know I'm right about where football is headed under the millennials scourge.

@ForThoseAboutToRock I am seriously thinking about dropping out. I've gotten really disillusioned with the NYFL and I'm not thrilled with things Kraft has done, especially the horrible treatment of the STHs who got turfed out to build the stupid Optum Lounge and the way he screws over STHs in the SB lottery. And the sucking up to Goodell, of course.
Nothing is stopping you from dropping off the list. He doesn’t have to give you or anyone on the waiting list tickets when they become available. You should think of it like you’ve simply extended him an an offer to buy tickets to see his team play a and and it’s up to him to accept your offer. If you don’t like those terms you can forget about the waiting list and buy tickets on the secondary market from season ticket holders who are even more pissed off than you because they’re being gouged $4.50 for tap water, $12.50 for cheap beer beer and $50 for parking. Cheers.

I suppose that fantasy football and light beer is preferable to racking up the national debt to $21,000,000,000,000 and sending the country swirling down the toilet. Furthermore, a Boomer’s disgust with millennials is always hilarious to watch since they raised us. Another feather in the cap for the aging, whiny, sniveling generation that the Greatest Generation somehow gave birth to. Congrats. You guys have KILLED it.

What happened with the SB lottery?
NE sells a lot of its SB allotment to scalpers...I mean partners...who put together SB travel packages at outrageous prices.

Yep. By how much depends on how good/bad his replacement is. If they find a capable replacement, it won’t be by that much. If they have to endure some 3-13, 4-12 seasons, people will leave in droves.

It also depends on when Belichick (and to a lesser extent Gronk) calls it quits. Half this fanbase became fans post 2001.

What happened with the SB lottery?
It went away with the advent of club seating when Gillette was built, although they claim it still exists for PR purposes.

Kontra, you’re our only hope!
I like Tune a lot, but generations that live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. Besides, it’s mostly ball busting. I appreciate boomers that come in for job interviews actually dressed for the occasion and armed with resumés. I’ve interviewed millennials for entry level positions before and some have shown up in jeans, short sleeve button down shirts, sneakers, and without a resumé. I’ve sent them home immediately. I’ve seen a pretty discernible difference in the millennials that grew up before the advent of social media and those that grew up during it. Gen Z isn’t looking good yet. Say what you will about millennials, but we weren’t snorting condoms and putting it on social media.

Additionally, the league itself allocates less seats to the teams so they can sell the NFL Experience packages and other corporatist B.S.

How To Buy the Cheapest Super Bowl 53 Tickets | A 2018 Guide
Overview Of Super Bowl Tickets
The distribution of Super Bowl tickets is controlled by the NFL, who distributes 75% of tickets to the teams while the remainder is given to media, partners, and sponsors as well as sold via packages that are mostly bought by ticket brokers since it’s so far in advance of the Super Bowl.

Here’s how the National Football League breaks down ticket distribution:

  1. Super Bowl teams share 35% – 17.5% each, majority given to season ticket holders & players.
  2. Host team gets 6.2% – majority distributed to season ticket holders.
  3. Remaining 28 teams share 33.6% – 1.2% for each team distributed to players, media, partners etc.
  4. NFL retains 25.2% – tickets are typically sold to partners, media and sponsors.
However, the NFL changed the allocation of Super Bowl tickets in 2017 and will carry over into 2018. This year they announced that they are going to allocate 6,000 tickets away from the teams playing in the Super Bowl to the NFL On Location Experience company. NFL On Location is a fancy name for a concierge service which will be selling Super Bowl packages for above face value (and potentially above market value as well).

I've gotten hired for a good job before wearing what you describe (but also with a resume...), as well as wearing a regular suit. I dunno. I'd rather judge based on, you know, merit. I think it's funny that someone years ago decided that wearing a suit makes you a productive member of society and that everyone just ran with it.

It is more or less the no resume thing on top of coming in with their personal hygiene not up to snuff (unshaved as well). Others can hire people like that in their business if they wish. For me, however, if you can't even show up to the interview with your personal hygiene in order on top of not even caring enough to bring in a resume, then that shows me that your life may not be in order and/or you don't take the job seriously enough to become a vital piece in the organization. I'd rather go with the guy/girl with the more polished resume who took the time out of his/her day to get ready for the job. It shows that the job is important to them.

This young man seems to be on track...

Didn't they displace something like 1,600 seats for the Optum Club? Those 1,600 season ticket holders had to be relocated somewhere. It's no surprise that no one came off the list last year once you consider that.

I hope the pats do that deal for wait list members - buy a preseason game, get a reg season game offer. I joined the wait-list last year and got Tix to the San Diego game last year and the nyg preseason.
If they stop that offer I'll come off the list and get my $ back. I did the ST thing for 15,16 years, drank way too much beer, gave Krafty bob way too much $ andand way too many hungover Mondays....now I just want to be able to take my kids to a game with out spending a mortgage payment on tickets....

I suppose all I'm saying is I think it's stupid that society decided wearing a dumbass suit is equivalent to caring about something.

I think for a job it shows that you're taking it more seriously than someone does that looks like they just rolled out of bed. We're also not talking about jobs that center around non-routine cognitive skills here. Many of these jobs could be outsourced so there's not much that separates the candidates as long as we're keeping them in-house. Showing the ability to at least care enough to clean yourself up and bring a resume helps.

That said, I would (and have) still interview someone that wears jeans and a button down as long as they bring in a resume. It's when you don't have that either that I've seen all I need to see.

EPIC "Get Off My Lawn" post!

I agree about basic hygiene, but some people have facial hair as a preference so that is a bit discriminatory to hold that against someone. I have 2 friends that are pretty scruffy and both make $160k/year at really good jobs.. well one is 37, so technically not a millenial, the other is 34.. both very good at their jobs and one is in a forward facing position that travels to work with clients, etc

I don't like the whole suit and tie expectation, but I obviously assume that is the standard unless told otherwise. I have asked if it would be appropriate for me to interview in my work clothes from another job and was told no, you must be in a suit.. so i obviously took some annual time to make sure i could go home and get dressed for it, but it was worth asking as some don't care and understand that you're already leaving your current job in the middle of the day to go interview with them, so its a fair question to ask.

Some people's resumes absolutely astound me tho lol, I recently got one that was like 5 pages long and had the most god awful font, colors etc... i couldn't believe they submitted that pile of crap for such a high level position. The resume doesn't hold much importance to me other than to get a general idea of their background to better determine if they're experienced enough, the true test of someones worth and merit is in how they interview IMO, but holy cow if you can't even put a decent looking resume together as a first impression for a prospective employer, its hard to see them putting in any kind of effort once they actually have the job

My entire staff are all boomers, but we all get along great because we all respect each other... if either I or one of them had this preconceived notion based on a grandiose generalization of an entire generation, then it would be a total disaster.

Its funny to hear old, grumpy farts mumble on about millenials tho lol

I have a beard. But I keep it well trimmed and maintained. When I rail on the beards in that post, I’m talking about the long ones that come down to the chest with scraggly neck hair. The kind you see spit drying in (no lie).

I also shouldn’t come across with the impression that every millennial I’ve interviewed has looked like that. Some have come in looking cleaned up and with well polished resumes. It’s just that I’ve never had a boomer or Gen X’er come in looking like that. The only ones that did have been millennials.

I also don’t expect a suit and tie from everyone. Not everyone can afford that. But khakis and a long sleeve button down with some brown shoes is do-able for most.
