I’m pretty sure all parties involved with the team and around the team have dispelled this rumor that you continue to perpetuate, but let’s humor this for a second, do you believe he’s the first/last player to get drunk or high the week before a game? I’ll do you one more,I’d bet Bills LB corps in NY partied it up the night before the SB during his Giants tenure. This had nothing to do with behavior or misconduct
I'd bet BB feels a coked up LT could have won even more if he was clean.

Look even if you forget about what I was told. Either you believe Bill had good reason to do what he did or you can scapegoat him. Everyone gets to make their own choice. I know I'm only ever going to call him one type of G.O.A.T.

Ok let’s take a look at your point. So you believe Bill wanted to punish MB and of course send a message to the team by sacrificing what could be Bills last chance to win a SB. But he wants to protect MBs money potential in FA?
“Hey Malcolm, we’re going to screw ourselves out of a super bowl but I’m going to make sure you get paid....then, I’m not going to say a thing about this to the rest of the team in hopes that I can create some animosity in the locker room and dissension, you know, the thing I’m trying to prevent by benching you...”

Sounds a bit illogical
I'd say it was more about avoiding some sort of Barret Robbins type pre week distraction. Say what you want about the whole thing but it didn't really go public until an hour before the game.

Why do you insist on digging deeper and deeper?

Consider me Al Groh with his shovel. I'll never stop until everyone starts pointing the finger at the right person.

But you've been posting pretty much nothing but stupid **** for the entire thread. You've made yourself look like a fool. Just stop. The reality is there. It's not hard to see. You can argue against it, but it's still going to be the reality. You can't rationally say that people can't look at what's been publicly stated and reasonably come to the conclusion that BB screwed up. The moment you do that, you lose all credibility.

You can't rationally believe there isn't more to it than publicly stated?

Regardless of public statements and regardless of what I've heard it's more than rational to believe Bill had good reason.

Unless he assaulted someone any other reason would not make sense even if he was late or whateva. He's gone after the season either way.

Stop moving the goalposts and building straw men.

Some will never admit what Belichick did was wrong. So, let’s change the discussion from whether it was the right decision to how Belichick handled it.

One of the basic tenets of the faith is to not create distractions. So minutes before the Super Bowl, Belichick drops a thermonuclear distraction on his team by benching his starting CB for the last 3 seasons without explanation. Teammates’ heads must of been spinning watching a crushed Butler crying during the National Anthem.

Why not start Butler at LCB and see how he plays? Then, you could substitute Rowe in if Butler continued to play poorly. You would not have the spectacle of a player crying his eyes out before the game and you might of had a useful player to bring back in the game.

Great point. For a guy who try’s to minimize distractions more then anyone he did drop a huge distraction on the team right before the game.

No goal posts or straw men. Whatever is out there be it public statements or some internet nerd either you can choose to scapegoat BB or you can accept he had good reason to do what he did.

I guess his demeanor on the sidelines suggested he wasn’t wasted. But would you have played him if SBB’s theory is correct?
Absolutely. It’s the Super Bowl and he’s gone in the offseason. You play your best players still in that situation.

Once again that assumes they would call the same plays ... too many unknowns.
A healthy focused Butler may have put us over the top ... but we will never know.
Butler sucked in the playoffs ... hurt us even ... another item left off the table by the pro Butler people.
Butler is a better corner than Rowe and is a better option on the field than Jordan Richards. Of course they would have had more success with better players in there. There may have even been a coverage sack or two.

Wait, which are you going with now? Is this flu, or the AFCCG, or limited in practice?
You claimed there was no possibilty of a logical reason for Bill to sit Malcolm and I listed several. I have no idea why he sat him.

I don’t think Bill would every play anyone who wasn’t ready. That’s not his style.

That said, the biggest single reason we lost the SB was loss of sheard, long, hightower, Nink and Rivers. If we had any one of them we would have won.

I love when people say 'wasn't ready to play'

WTF does that mean anyway? he wasn't ready as in not ready to be better than Richards or Bademosi? or was it actually that BB wasn't ready to put him in because of some disciplinary reason.....beyond the good soldier captains, there are plenty of players behaving as though someone other than Butler screwed them out of a better chance to win the SB

I think the front office is still the best in the game, but it appears hubris has set in and they've been full of crap for awhile

Having a team meeting over a personnel decision prior to kickoff would be a bigger distraction.

not really.........who says its better to have players on the sideline wondering about WTF is going on?
