Gronk Reportedly Still Undecided On Playing Next Year:

Means nothing, Dude is a fitness nut, he’ll be jacked into his twilight years because he loves working out. Besides he needs to maintain his current body if he really wants to pursue WWE.
I don’t think he’d be up at 4:30 in the morning if he was planning to retire.

How is he hurting the team?
Are you serious? You don't see how a player being on the fence for months after the season ended hurts a team's preparations for the next season?

Granted so far he isn't quite in Brett Favre territory - yet.

I don't play any sports and it doesn't financially impact me at all and I get up at 4:30 in the morning to work out. Lot's of people do that.

I’m leaning towards trading him. I dislike the idea intensely but apparently we got to this point

Yeah, lots of old people do that. I don’t know anyone my age or Gronk’s age that gets up at that time to work out on a Sunday.

If you’re going to dismiss all of the negative news with a grain of salt, don’t just treat good rumors as fact either. Felt like people made too quick of assumptions that he will play next year.

Why not treat all rumors as rumors and go on with life? He's either looking at a bump, trying to avoid training camp [as an oft injured vet] or retiring. Not sure why he'd bother keeping up communication if he's retiring.

This is what will happen the Patriots will offer X Gronk will say he wants Y the end result will be ok Rob look for a trade.

If we would trade Gronk and that wouldnt help us net Chubb or the QB of our choosing its a fail.

I'm 26. I know plenty of people my age that do that.

Preparations for the draft, too, which is a lot closer than the start of next season.

Why? That sounds completely ****ing miserable. Assuming you work for a living, you get up early all damn week. Why would you want to get up that early on a Sunday when you don’t have to? By the way, Gronk and his people have reportedly still been talking to the Pats. He’s not leaving. At least not yet.

Trade his @ss to Cleveland that would teach him.

Go down the Esplanade at 5 a.m. Lots of young people there then. Maybe it's a Boston thing ...

You trade Gronk & the SB window is shut. Our offense maintained the 28-29 PPG without him in 2016 because we had a top 6-8 TE in his absence in Bennett. With Gronk & Bennett that offense was going to be top 10 all time. Without Gronk AND without a strong capable backup TE the offense has nosedived almost a TD per game historically. The 2013 offense with & without Gronk is the definition of an MVP candidate.

So what can the Pats do? You'd have to realistically trade Gronk for a pick & a good TE since rookies at the position basically do nothing. We're trading Gronk for Olsen/Witten & a 1st? Seems unlikely.

If you trade Gronk & don't replace him with a good to very good TE then that's a foolish move & a dumb end to the remainder of Brady's career.

Didn't BB say no Player is Greater than the Team??

Fair enough. That said, I don’t think Gronk seems like the kind of young guy to be up and at ‘em that early in the offseason if he didn’t have plans to play.

mmm...let's hope for the best

i want him back...

but i will not be surprised if he will be traded...
No matter what he says, it's hard to walk away from this game.

It would be very happy for all of us if he can walk away on top.

"Check the scoreboard, dude..."

They need to pay him another 1-2m dollars a year. He’s outplayed his current contract. It happens.

I’m not worried about how paying him would set a bad precedent because the next player who holds out probably isn’t going to be as good as Rob Gronkowski.
